13 of us chose to have our Work Xmas Do at As you like it, and we had an absolutely fantastic time.
We prebooked our food easily weeks prior and communication was easy with the restaurant leading up to the event. When we arrived, it seemed quite quiet (7pm) but the bar was well staffed which was great. 2-4-1 on the drinks 5-9pm was an absolute winner on arrival.
We were given a fab table set up for our meal and the main woman looking after us (Nicki I believe if my memory serves me right) was absolutely amazing. Starters arrived by about 8pm, mains about 10 mins after we finished our starters but the desserts took a little longer than anticipated. However, we were all too busy having fun, catching up & taking photos!
The food was absolutely delicious. Everyone was thrilled with their food throughout. There was only a small issue with 1 persons steak which turned out to be unavailable, but a GOGW was offered which was a great touch in return. Highly recommend the Beef Cheek for main - it was DIVINEEEE.
We had a great space reserved for all of us afterwards downstairs ready for the live music where we all drank and danced our socks off.
Thank you to all the staff who took part in making our evening so great! All of the team couldn’t stop saying what a great night they were having throughout.
Highlights of the night - The 2/4/1, the food and the identical twins at the bar downstairs totally messing with my head when ordering a drink on arrival haha.
The place can get absolutely RAMMED, making it so difficult to get in and out, get served at the bar and to go to the toilets! So be prepared for that if you’re not a fan of a big crowd. The restaurant upstairs is away from all the hustle and bustle of the drinkers though.

Restaurant week. We had an early booking of 5.30pm on a Monday and it was quiet and so staff were very attentive. Only doing the select menu, items came out extremely quickly and we had 3 courses within an hour of arrival. A really nice quirky venue with great decor. Food was probably the best of the week (having got to a restaurant a day during this week!).
Pork belly just divine! Lamb ragu in pappardelle pasta, tender and tasty. Chocolate mousse rich and delicious!

I did not have high expectations going into this restaurant but it is amazing!! It serves the best fish and chips I have ever had!!
I could not finish as it was a massive fish and they offered to put it in a takeaway box
The restaurant is very classy and has one of the most comprehensive drinks menu. The bar is properly stocked up with more spirits than you can count.
Table service was excellent and it is child friendly
Lots of cosy dining spaces and I think I saw some couches

My wife and I got married here 01/10/23. We booked the whole thing in January 2022. From start to finish it was organised perfectly. Every member of staff we dealt with was friendly and professional and any changes we wanted were done without question and with minimal effort. The venue is a good size for what we needed, 60 guests throughout the day and the same for the evening.
It’s intimate, rustic, full of character and a very calming and warm atmosphere. The mismatched chairs, the fireplace, the tables and the general decor adds to the charm of the whole place. We dealt with Meg the day before and day of the wedding. She used our decorations and set out the tables and surroundings perfectly! She was so good to talk to and it was evident she had our best interest at heart, and just wanted us to have the best day.
The day ran smoothly, thanks to the staff and their efforts. We didn’t worry about anything and the pre-wedding meetings were efficient and made sure that we had considered and provided instruction for every aspect of the day.
I couldn’t recommend this venue anymore. It’s well priced in today’s wedding venue market and I felt we got value for money. Whilst it may not be everyone’s cup of tea, I’d encourage anyone to have a look around the place and see what they thought. The location is great being just outside of the city centre. And having everything happen in one room always goes down a storm with guests.
Thank you for making our day everything we wanted it to be.

Went to AYLI yesterday for a date night meal out and was very impressed. The cocktails and food were sooo tasty (the braised beef cheek in particular was insane!) And the service from the two staff in the restaurant was spot on, making our night out so special :)
Would definitely go back again!

Trendy restaurant/bar. The food was very good but high priced for the portion. I had what they called 2 seabass fillets but was either fillets from baby fish of one fillet halved which was disappointing. Ambience was good, Trendy crowd and enjoyed my evening.

Booked in for Sunday dinner, arrived early but were seated straight away. We both had the beef Sunday dinner, tasted great. The usual veg; roasties, mash, carrots, broccoli & red cabbage. Special mention to the Yorkshire pudding which I thought was really tasty (as far as Yorkshire puddings go!). Followed up with Eton mess sundae, didn't look much however every spoonful was a taste sensation!

Visited during restaurant week - was very busy as a result so service was slightly slow. Food was good although the pork belly was somewhat disappointing. Wait staff were very friendly and helpful.

What a fantastic restaurant and bar, so quirky with an absolutely beautiful terrace area. The food and drinks are spit on, good value for money. An excellent vibe. First pub I've seen offering expresso martinis on draught.Highly recommended

The staff were superb and the food was delicious. I had a ribeye steak, cooked to perfection, with 'dirty' mashed potato and poached egg - beautiful. The farmyard sharing platter was great too. Fairly decent choice of craft beer and ales which is always nice to see - although prices seemed a bit on the steep side. Lovely atmosphere inside.

First time visit for my son's 3rd birthday meal with family. Staff very friendly. Food was lovely. Took a while but worth the wait. Definitely going to go back.

Insulated from the West by the Town Moor, and from the East by the woods of Jesmond Dene, its excellent schools and genteel atmosphere have always attracted well-off professional families. Then the students descended and many of the larger houses were converted into bedsits. With them came a different atmosphere. Osborne Road, formerly a residential terrace with the odd small hotel, became the loud, lively symbol of the new Newcastle, where students, glitterati and wannabes could mingle for a night of fun. It’s still a nice place to live, but Jesmond now has the atmosphere of a cosmopolitan village: it’s Newcastle’s Hampstead, with expensive boutiques and outdoor cafés. It also has some smart restaurants: so I secr
