Northern Negatives
My wife and I got married here 01/10/23. We booked the whole thing in January 2022. From start to finish it was organised perfectly. Every member of staff we dealt with was friendly and professional and any changes we wanted were done without question and with minimal effort. The venue is a good size for what we needed, 60 guests throughout the day and the same for the evening.
It’s intimate, rustic, full of character and a very calming and warm atmosphere. The mismatched chairs, the fireplace, the tables and the general decor adds to the charm of the whole place. We dealt with Meg the day before and day of the wedding. She used our decorations and set out the tables and surroundings perfectly! She was so good to talk to and it was evident she had our best interest at heart, and just wanted us to have the best day.
The day ran smoothly, thanks to the staff and their efforts. We didn’t worry about anything and the pre-wedding meetings were efficient and made sure that we had considered and provided instruction for every aspect of the day.
I couldn’t recommend this venue anymore. It’s well priced in today’s wedding venue market and I felt we got value for money. Whilst it may not be everyone’s cup of tea, I’d encourage anyone to have a look around the place and see what they thought. The location is great being just outside of the city centre. And having everything happen in one room always goes down a storm with guests.
Thank you for making our day everything we wanted it to be.

Restaurant week. We had an early booking of 5.30pm on a Monday and it was quiet and so staff were very attentive. Only doing the select menu, items came out extremely quickly and we had 3 courses within an hour of arrival. A really nice quirky venue with great decor. Food was probably the best of the week (having got to a restaurant a day during this week!).
Pork belly just divine! Lamb ragu in pappardelle pasta, tender and tasty. Chocolate mousse rich and delicious!

We had our wedding reception here and it was absolutely perfect. All the staff involved were wonderful from start to finish and super helpful with helping us to plan the day. The food was so delicious! And all the drinks and cocktails were amazing. Couldn't recommend enough. Couldn't have found anywhere better and all super reasonably priced. Thank you so much to everyone who works there and made the day amazing.

I did not have high expectations going into this restaurant but it is amazing!! It serves the best fish and chips I have ever had!!
I could not finish as it was a massive fish and they offered to put it in a takeaway box
The restaurant is very classy and has one of the most comprehensive drinks menu. The bar is properly stocked up with more spirits than you can count.
Table service was excellent and it is child friendly
Lots of cosy dining spaces and I think I saw some couches

We went Saturday early evening. Cocktails were delicious. Food absolutely fantastic.

Went for a party and excellent. Buffet was plentiful and very tasty. Music from resident DJ was good mix (except they found the button to make it wobble so that part was annoying. Enjoying song, hit button, wobbles and lose flow 🥺). Would go again without a party being held

Loved it some items were missing off the menu, however what we had was excellent. Service was excellent and cocktails were gorgeous. Gorgeous quirky venue definitely worth a visit.

What a fantastic restaurant and bar, so quirky with an absolutely beautiful terrace area. The food and drinks are spit on, good value for money. An excellent vibe. First pub I've seen offering expresso martinis on draught.Highly recommended

Trendy restaurant/bar. The food was very good but high priced for the portion. I had what they called 2 seabass fillets but was either fillets from baby fish of one fillet halved which was disappointing. Ambience was good, Trendy crowd and enjoyed my evening.

Booked in for Sunday dinner, arrived early but were seated straight away. We both had the beef Sunday dinner, tasted great. The usual veg; roasties, mash, carrots, broccoli & red cabbage. Special mention to the Yorkshire pudding which I thought was really tasty (as far as Yorkshire puddings go!). Followed up with Eton mess sundae, didn't look much however every spoonful was a taste sensation!

Visited during restaurant week - was very busy as a result so service was slightly slow. Food was good although the pork belly was somewhat disappointing. Wait staff were very friendly and helpful.

The staff were superb and the food was delicious. I had a ribeye steak, cooked to perfection, with 'dirty' mashed potato and poached egg - beautiful. The farmyard sharing platter was great too. Fairly decent choice of craft beer and ales which is always nice to see - although prices seemed a bit on the steep side. Lovely atmosphere inside.

Insulated from the West by the Town Moor, and from the East by the woods of Jesmond Dene, its excellent schools and genteel atmosphere have always attracted well-off professional families. Then the students descended and many of the larger houses were converted into bedsits. With them came a different atmosphere. Osborne Road, formerly a residential terrace with the odd small hotel, became the loud, lively symbol of the new Newcastle, where students, glitterati and wannabes could mingle for a night of fun. It’s still a nice place to live, but Jesmond now has the atmosphere of a cosmopolitan village: it’s Newcastle’s Hampstead, with expensive boutiques and outdoor cafés. It also has some smart restaurants: so I secr
