Good place to grab some food before going to the library or just chilling around university. Quite many varieties of beers. My fav food is the pulled pork flatbread. Their fries are superb. Most of the time this pub is not too full.
If you ask kindly, they’ll play Formula 1 upstairs! Been to the Hancock both socially and to attend private events upstairs - it’s always a treat! The food is excellent, but I’ve often found food to be sold out, so always have a back-up option when ordering food!!
Lively pub, great service from staff. Haven't had food, but looks like decent pub fare. Offers discounts for students, blue light and civic centre staff, which is nice. Not too expensive either way.

We hired the upstairs part of the Hancock pub for my stepson's 21st party , from the first contact to booking the room to us all leaving just after 11pm the staff & manager made sure everything was done to perfection , if possible I would give 100/10 to the whole team who run this amazing establishment.
The Hancock is a great place to come for a nice drink & food , the staff are friendly & helpful & ready to make sure your time there is the best ever , all the catering is done the kitchen staff & it shows just how good pub food should be , when the food was being served you could see it had been thought out so well & we were all extremely pleased with every aspect of the buffet from presentation to taste .
The atmosphere inside is a very relaxed one & the whole place is a credit to all who work there to make it the success it is .
I would have no doubts about booking the Hancock again & would recommend it to anyone who asked what it is like , the biggest of thank you's to all the staff there who made it a great night for us all ♥️♥️♥️♥️🤘🤘🤘🤘🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺
This place had stood the test of time. I was there last weekend...before that it was around 10 years ago. I used to go all the time back in the day.
It still looks pretty much exactly the same. It looks well maintained and the staff are friendly. Good selection of drinks and food. There is a beer terrace and an inside section.
If your passing it's worth stopping for drinks a bite to eat.
The absolute best burgers in Newcastle. I've ate burgers at so many pubs in Newcastle and Gosforth but here serves the best. The amount of sauces and contents inside the burgers is absolutely incredible to say the least, also the amount of flavour with the burgers is simply unbeatable. Here serves the best burgers I have ever eaten. 10/10. Excellent.
Busy student vibe lots of friends enjoying themselves, plenty of seating area and screens to watch sport, upstairs with pool tables seating and again screens, music in background just right for early evening, drinks were good and reasonably priced, staff were all attentive and friendly. Food was tasty and well presented didn’t have to wait too long either. Would highly recommend for a casual night out not too ott and most welcoming 👍🏼

Visited a couple of times over the last few days amazing pub, food is delicious and the staff are all amazing. Can get busy on a friday night but service is fast well worth a visit if you are in the area
Great place with a great atmosphere! Lovely to go with a party of your mates, and brilliant for students as it's close to uni and you get a good discount. The staff are lovely and the food is lush. I'm there a lot!
