Afternoon Tea At Bedford Lodge Hotel

Went here for Afternoon Tea as a Birthday present for my Mother. It was a Friday and wasn't especially busy but it had a nice cosy atmosphere, the staff were friendly, helpful & efficient without being intrusive,we noted none had English as their Mother tongue and one struggled to even converse atall. Savory items came first with a choice of teas and coffee, I had a large thin sausage roll which was hot on the outside but completely cold in the middle. There was also a small quiche and a selection of sandwiches, which were ok but not seasoned, making them taste quite bland. Next came pastries, warm scones, clotted cream, jam and homemade lemon curd. For the most part the pastries were very nice except for what appeared to be a pre- frozen mousse and a madalaine which spoiled the overall set, scones were nice, as to was having lemon curd, a nice touch. I regretted having coffee afterwards, as it was a kind of cheap batch type and tasted awfull.

A very enjoyable stay again at this hotel. Efficient check in procedure. Good room - well equipped. Only criticism was the heavy duvets made it too hot to sleep well. Good choice of wines in the bar where the service was attentive. Enjoyed the evening meal. The asparagus starter was perfectly cooked, as was the steak to order. We shared a desert - delicious. Breakfast was from a good variety of choices. There were no price supplements and the ingredients of the full breakfast of high quality. Plenty of car parking. Apart from the heavy duvets, what was not to like?

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at the Bedford Lodge Hotel to celebrate my birthday. The service in all areas was flawless, with all staff very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a Superior King room which was spotless and the bed super comfy. We had a lovely evening meal in Squires Restaurant which had a great atmosphere to match the great food. There was a vast choice for breakfast with everything very fresh and of excellent quality. We made use of the Health and Fitness Suite which was clean with a lovely pool, steam room and sauna. We would highly recommend a stay if you're looking for a relaxing stay in the area.

So, I thought I'd been drinking hot chocolate on and off from my early childhood through to my midlife. No. I was fooled. I was lied to. Tonight, really was the first occasion in 40 or so years that I actually experienced authentic hot chocolate. The Bedford Lodge Hotel has set the bar. It was almost wrong to drink. Was this a dream? Was this half a pint of melted chocolate under a whipped cream topper? It was a life event. Yum.

Stayed here as part of a family birthday. It’s not my kind of place (I don’t need pampering). But the place is very nice, all the staff were very attentive, the pool and pool facilities were great (extra points to the pool staff for ejecting children from the hot tub, admittedly they were our children, but it was great to get an official ‘no’). The only down side was room; the power shower was weak, the sofa bed was uncomfortable and the little horse (£25) doesn’t come with the pink tie 😢

The breakfast options were equally impressive and provided a great start to our days. The location of Bedford Lodge Hotel was ideal for exploring Newmarket and its surroundings. We took advantage of its proximity to local attractions and enjoyed exploring the picturesque town. We also appreciated the seamless check-in and check-out processes, which made our stay stress-free. In sum, our stay at Bedford Lodge Hotel was nothing short of wonderful. We left with a sense of gratitude for the outstanding hospitality and a desire to return in the future. Amazing staff. They took our bags to the room while we were out (as soon as it was allocated) which is what I'd expect. Food is very good. The bar area is a relaxing area. Our room is tidy clean and the decor is good. They need another type of pillow choice in the cupboard. By the time I realised I was too tired to ask for another, although I have no doubt they would have brought another choice. It's a great location for the races.
