The Landing

First time eating here & I enjoyed the food. I ordered the lobster bisque (I think it needed a little more flavor) & the scallops. Scallops were a good size & I enjoyed the berry sauce. My SO got the clam chowder (which I enjoyed more than my bisque, lol) & he got the steak. He thought it was good overall. It was a good size of steak & well cooked. Service was good. You can take your mask off once you reach your table. Bathrooms were nice & clean. Overall a good experience!

We love The Landing during the summer. We made the mistake of going the last night of the season. We thought it would be memorable to get our last great experience before they closed. It was awful. There were no raw bar options (oysters, shrimp). We ordered a 2 lb steamed lobster and they delivered a 1.25 lb lobster without notifying us in advance. They ran out of pasta for kids mac and cheese. It was a joke. If you go, don't go in October.

Run away from this place! I hardly ever give a bad review, see my other reviews. The Landing is in a prime location on the downtown Newport marina. It is right on the water where you can view all the boats coming and going. That's the best part of this restaurant. $3 for a 12oz disposable soda cup and they didn't offer a refill. I ordered the lobster bar burger priced at $22 for my son, my daughter, and myself. The bacon cheeseburger was priced at $12.50. I paid the extra $10 for the lobster burger and if they gave me a full oz. of lobster I would be totally surprised. The cheeseburger itself was nothing special. I ordered it medium and it came well done. It was on a par with a burger I might have gotten at McDonalds for half the price. If I had to guess, I would say it is a frozen Costco burger. We totally got hustled. The busboy tried to hustle my plate off before I was done. This restaurant could be so much more, given the prime location but sadly it's a tourist trap and they apparently take no shame in ripping customers off. Don't take my word, read the other reviews on this place. I was surprised to find that even some 3 star reviews had bad things to say.

Nice place overlooking the harbor I had the clam chowder shrimp cocktail and grilled salmon all very good. My wife had house salad which was good with fish & chips which was not good the fish was frozen ,nothing worse than frozen cod. The service was good. For a fish restaurant you would think that they would have fresh fish.That ruined the meal.
