The food os amazing. One of the best Indian restaurants in Nottingham. I would recommend the fish curry with appam (Neer Dosa). One dish is enough for two people as the quantity is very good.
Kayal was a place I used to visit once on two weeks.
It’s a great a place to try South Indian food.
My personal favourite dishes are :-

• Lunch Express ( Veg/ Non veg) It’s perfect for Students as it’s affordable.
Available from Monday to Friday.
• Thalasserry Chicken Biriyani.
It’s a must try place!
This is one of my favourite in Nottingham by far. I never have the feeling of staying away from my home thanks to their homely dishes. Wonderful!

Took me a while to locate the restaurant. But the food was brilliant as usual, a little pricey for the ambience though.
Would definitely recommend anyone who is a fan of Kerala cuisine.
Kayal on Broadway, excellent Southern Indian Fare- my tagline “Five went to eat Thali”. Kayal in Nottingham serves up classic Southern Indian fare, describing it as ‘Kerala Backwater Cuisine’. Have been meaning to come here for a long time, one of those restaurants you look at but never quite make it indoors until yesterday! And I am so glad we went! The restaurant is huge inside and I was so surprised to see how unusual and relaxed the atmosphere was. One of our friends took us and we were so glad! The menu ha Sao much choice so we shared starters which were delicious and also shared the main courses too! Bonus! One of the main dishes was a fish dish wrapped in banana leaves, spectacular it was! So guess what we are returning next week to sample some more of the amazing dishes on the menu!
A pocket friendly South Indian restaurant. Definitely a to go place. Food is good. I had a Nair Masala Dosa and it was spot on and that sambhar with the green chutney. Yum!! Plus they serve Kingfisher - the best Indian beer. Yay!! I didn't enjoy the pistachio kulfi much, it was way too buttery for me and I couldn't taste the pista in it and for me it ruined it :/ . One thing more which I think is very thoughtful of kayal was that they have a little magnifying glass in the menu for people who have trouble reading smaller fonts. Really appreciate that. I would love to go there again and will highly recommend it.
Tasty and spicy food. I love how the staff trusted me when I told them I forgot my wallet at the hotel! I came back of course 😅😅

A very good indian restaurant in Nottingham. It's like a journey! That was the feeling to me after reading the menu at Kayal. Everything in the menu is so unusual with explantion of each dish with the ingredients and places from where each dish originated. The food is fresh and totally awe inspiring! All dishes are traditional from Kerala. It's not exactly cheap...but totally worth every penny.Service is friendly.
The food here is amazing and some of the best curry dishes I've ever had. I came here with my partner and grandparents and we all had a great time, the atmosphere when we went was nice and relaxed and the servers always made sure we had water at our table. Would recommend anyone who is in Nottingham looking for somewhere to eat a curry to come here.
Came on a very quiet Sunday, service was still superb and the food came out quickly. We shared a dosa to start, really lovely shredded chicken inside and a gradual build up of heat, would definitely recommend. We then had the duck curry and seafood curry, both full of flavour. Huge prawns and mussels, though the squid was slightly over as it was cut into small pieces. The paratha was divine. Only slight let down was the faint smell of chlorine and the toilets looked in need of a really deep clean around the sink etc. Overall an authentic and flavoursome experience, somewhere to go if you want to mix up your standard Indian experience.

A really nice find in the city centre specialising in South Indian cuisine and does the basics well - dosa is a must try if you're new to this type of food and comes with a good (but not wasteful) amount of sambar, coconut and tomato chutneys!
The deserts were a bit hit-or-miss (especially the banana roast), but the gulab jamun or mango kulfi was probably the best - the latter being neither too sweet nor heavy. The vadai was pretty perfect!
The vibe was pretty perfect and it did get crowded, but you can reserve a table the day prior if you have a larger party. The best part was the friendly servers - they were super helpful and friendly.
The food was amazing, music kept the atmosphere lively, and lots of oddities on the wall such as a Royal Enfield bullet bike. An all round great place to visit. My first ever 5 star rating goes to this place. No wonder they won an award for 9 years straight!
Food was great and the ambience was too good. Felt the price was slightly high but wouldn't mind as the food was tasty. I will defintely recommend it who is looking for an authentic Indian Kerala restaurant.
It’s one of the best restaurants we’ve ever been in. Food is simply stunning and the staff and service brilliant. I particularly loved the healing foods on this visit AND Kayal has inspired us to visit Kerala very very soon

First time in Nottingham. Tried the Kayal on spec as a good place for tasty vegetarian food. It was. Helpful staff and large portions - especially the 'glass' dosa which, as you will see from our photo, was spectacularly big 😀
Great service, great vegan food, and some of the friendliest staff you will meet. Truly excellent value for money and a unique menu you won't forget in a hurry. I loved the interior design, the wide variety of foods and the interesting drinks offered to me. Every detail here has been thought of and planned out to make the experience memorable for customers. Would certainly recommend!
