My husband said that this is the highlights on our trip to Nottingham. We will definitely comeback here! The pub is actually a cave which is amazing and the foods are fantastic. It was quite busy when we dine here but the service was still quick. I recommend advance booking as I think this pub is always packed.
Nice old pub with plenty of history.
Won’t be disappointed worth a visit.
Food you get what you pay for.
The pub itself is very fascinating and also has great architecture along with many parts telling a thousand stories.
Great spot for Bikers I found too.
Brilliant, ancient pub in centre of Nottingham. It’s apparently the oldest inn in England (doesn’t offer room’s anymore unfortunately) it’s a green king pub (wranglings over the upkeep of building and fallings out) but you wouldn’t know, it’s got more of a free house vibe. Lots of rooms to explore. Some of building built into the stone. About 4 ales on and serves food. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. It’s a grade 2 listed building so Character and ambience in abundance!!! Apparently haunted. Most highly recommended 🍻 👻
Stunning pub with an enormously rich heritage, built into the foundation Nottingham Castle. Gets quite busy, but has a large terrace in front for extra space. Food options were limited on the day we went, and the food was just ok. It's a small space, which I think slowed down service as well
Established in 1189, the pub rests against Castle Rock, upon which Nottingham Castle is built, and is attached to several caves, carved out of the soft sandstone. These were reputedly originally used as a brewhouse for the castle, dating from the medieval period. This is a Greene King owned and operated pub, and as you'd expect, the Real Ale was great and in good condition. The staff were busy, but very friendly and helpful. There was plenty of seating was available (visited on a weekday) and after the lunchtime rush. The pub is walking distance to the Robin Hood statue and Brewhouse Yard.
The pub is very old and characteristic. It was built inside the caves and it's stunning inside.
We had a typical British lunch: fish&chips, mac and cheese and steak pie as per pisctures attached. Plus 3 beers we have paid 50 quid.
Very cozy and relaxing.
Definitely a must in Nottingham.
What an amazing place, so much history yet still hold a good old fashioned bar feel to it.
Small quirky rooms, loads of history to look at and an amazing back drop.
Try the Henry Weston’s !! Although only have one pint or you’ll talk gibbbbberish and walk like a drunken
Love it !!!
You definitely have to visit if you're in Nottingham.
Have a walk around, take photos and do have a drink (maybe a bite too, like I did 😂.. And oh the chicken sharer was nice).
The tables have numbers on them and that's what you order to, from the till. Oh, this place is popular so you might find a queue at the till (I did), depending on the time you visit.
Service was fantastic, everyone was helpful and nice.
Beyond the staggering gravity of having drank and eaten at an establishment with such length and depth of history, the food was nothing short of spectacular. I would drive hundreds of miles on my next trip for the food alone. Any criticism of the meals received and begrudgingly shared would be petty. I didn't think that a meat pie could possibly bring a tear to the eye. Top marks and then some

We didn't eat here, we were rekindling a trip down memory lane. It didn't disappoint. As the oldest pub in England set into the caves of in the wall of the castle. Great old pub
