No tables but we sat in the bar and that was fine by us! Service and staff were great and the roast was perfection!

Nice place with a good selection of ales, stouts and all manner of beer.
Good live music too.

The food was excellent (highly recommend the moussaka!) and there were plenty of tables & beer options. Staff were pleasant and efficient, only downside was we ordered nachos as a starter and they came with the mains, a very minor thing!

Just popped in for a pint of Harvest Pale. Plenty of bar staff so no wait despite the pub being quite busy.. No complaints at all, if I weren't eating elsewhere, I'd have perused the menu. Happy to revisit.

The quality of the beer is why we travel 30 minutes to get to this pub. We are also enjoying the Castle Rock App but have had a few issues when ordering when the App does not allow us to check in.
We were trying to get some assistance with this App from the bar staff, it was early Friday evening and it was not particularly busy for the number of staff on shift. I can only say that the young man we spoke to (James) was not only dismissive but just plain rude, 'stop bothering me, it's nothing to do with me'!
I appreciate this was an App issue but the lady we spoke to next took the time to explain what the problem was.
Might the rude response have something to do with the shots the chaps behind the bar were knocking back?

Great traditional pub with a large range of beers. Has a outdoor seating area. Lots of old brewery related items on display, old ovens still present showing buildings past. Beers are excellent as is food. Great venue for meeting up with people. Clean toilets. Nice bar and friendly staff. Great food, Black and Blue burger is particularly tasty.

Attended a funeral wake here recently and the food was delicious. Doorstep sandwiches went down a treat and the hot flavoured chicken drumsticks were succulent. Initially the service was a bit slow whilst serving the teas and coffee but there were a few of us. The room we were in was ok so all in all quite a nice venue.

Excellent boozer with lots of decent cask and craft beers at reasonable prices. Only downside is it's full of bloody dogs - either barking, fighting or lying where you have to step over them! I like dogs, but.... Great for the ale, though!

This place makes me laugh. I have a castle rock app I can't access in this pub. Great food and drink there, but using the app? Forget it! They do need to address this.

Roast dinner with a pint of neck oil on a leisurely Sunday afternoon 🍖😋

Try to go in at least once a week, staff always very friendly, food and beer superb and vinyl night monthly is not to be missed.

This pub used to be a bakery, hence the name, it is part of the ever growing Tynemill group which normally stands for really well kept beers and wholesome pub food, the Bread and Bitter is no exception. The beer range is always impressive with the Castle Rock selection plus London Pride and rotating guests. The pub has a lovely relaxed atmosphere, dogs are welcome and children in the eating area. The staff are exemplary, the slightly older members being very much into music, which means live music every other Tuesday and a splendid vinyl evening. The food is always very good, although the portion of peas which accompany the excellent fish and chips could do with being a tad larger. All in all this is a little gem of a pub and the locals are lucky to have it.

Great dog pub, food is great and atmosphere is always friendly and great for families and meets with friends. Amazing local.

Table booked for curry night. At 7.15 there were no curries available. Surely it is not difficult after all the years of organising this they realise that not everyone wants to eat at 6.00. This is not the first time they have run out!
Edit
Welcome return to curry night!
Tonight all curries were on. Excellent Thai green and South Indian pork. Onion bhajis are delicious

Great food selection, with a damn fine curry. Very tender chicken! Warm apple and chilli cider was phenomenal. Very dog-friendly place. A better than average gastro pub well suited for families and other large groups. The entrance is a little off from the street front and is possible to miss. Fascinating history of the building, being an old bakery and all.

Superb, I love it here. It's just so effortless. The staff are friendly and will even come over to say hello - it feels like they want you to be there. The beer is good as there is the Castle Rock core range, but it's the guest taps I usually go for as there will usually be something interesting. The whisky selection is decent too. It's comfy, dog friendly, welcoming and attracts a good crowd. The food is tasty too, especially the Sunday roasts.

We were a party of six adults, three kids and a dog. We were well seated, very well looked after by friendly staff, and the food was delicious. I personally recommend the Mac and Cheese. Water was offered for our dog and a couple of treats to keep him happy. It all made for a fun lunch en famille.

Been coming here for the last 13 years. Great selection of beer and helpful staff. Watched the England/Belgium match last night; fortunately the beer more than made up for the football.

We phoned yesterday to book a table for today, explained there would be three vegans in our party and was assured they would make sure they had enough vegan cheese for us and we wasn’t disappointed, great food, the staff was friendly and provided great service. Excited to see the vegan options doing so well and looking forward to seeing what new ones get added. Will definitely be coming back

Absolutely delicious fish and chips for him and I had sausages and Dauphinoise potatoes , tasted very home made and very tasty , the puddings look very nice too as they left the kitchen and were carried past us , unfortunately we were way to full for pudding . Defiantly recommend and will defiantly go back

Lovely food. Friendly staff. Fairly good service, just a tiny bit slow but quite busy. No complaints really as we were an hour early and still had our booked table.
