Plenty to do but it's not really a castle in the true sense. It was a castle and there are remnants of it and the building that is now there was a stately home I think. The ticket you purchase gives you access to the grounds for a year and we visited over two days. I would recommend you do the Robin Hood experience first which is the first entrance you can see when leaving the shop and ticket office. Some good interactive boards, virtual archery and virtual combat, all good fun. Some fun easy games in the medieval area and the rebellion gallery certainly kept my attention with portrayals of Nottingham castle's history. There's a more formal art gallery and currently an exhibition about people moving to Nottingham from the Caribbean and their heritage. Another thing recommended is a tour of the man made caves that wind their way throughout the hillside. The tour guide had superb knowledge and presented in a really interesting manner, Alrighty! I forgot to mention the views from the balcony are interesting and you can see many of the iconic landmarks of Nottingham. The coffee was good from the cafe in the castle that sells a selection of light meals and cakes etc. Presumably the one attached to the shop is similar. Finally the adventure play ground looks interesting and is suitable for children up to the age of 12. All in all a worthwhile trip.

This is a great experience overall, particularly for kids. There are many interactive displays, with the archery and quarter staff being very popular. Lots of interesting historical stories presented in very engaging ways (the noose display is bold). The outdoor play area is really well done and if you’re lucky the views from there are stunning. Kids go free and the ticket can be used for a year.

So much to do! Cafe, museum, art, history, and children's craft activities. Plus a wonderful outdoor park. Plus a single day's admission costs the same as an annual pass, 12£ and children are free.

Firstly, I recommend visiting the Castle,
Secondly, dine in the oldest pub that has survived since the Middle Ages,
Thirdly, visit the Deer Park 🏞, in which the deer 🦌 graze completely freely, without any pens,
Fourthly, visit the building of the Museum of Natural History
Fifthly, take a walk around the historic center and soak up the spirit of Robin Hood's times
For the night it is worth settling in some old building, in a quiet residential area.
Believe me, this is an unforgettable pleasure!

Wow! What a great place to bring the kids to play when you're in the city centre—you pay for entry once and it's good for unlimited visits the rest of the year. Yes, you read that right!
Well worth it—lots of interactive games and learning opportunities for all ages, a wonderful play area, gorgeous views of the city, clean loos, lovely cafes, and lush grounds. We didn't know what to expect as far as the kid-friendliness factor, but it did not disappoint in the slightest. Very good value for money, reasonable prices in the cafes and gift shop, and easily a day out on its own—but, with entry covered for the year, this is a much better place to let the kids run and play than amongst the pigeons in Old Market Square..!
Please, please visit if you haven't been in a while and visit often (no excuse now!)—it's an absolute gem and an incredible space we should all treasure in this amazing city x x

Definitely worth a visit! The ticket is valid for a year! Gardens pretty with fantastic views across the city! A great adventure playground for the children and Robin Hood experience is perfect for younger visitors. The main castle is interesting with art and history galleries, and a super cafe with really friendly staff! Sadly tickets for cave tours were all booked up! So, book online if you want to do this! Don't miss the Brewers Yard round the corner from the castle and next the Old Trip to Jerusalem pub!

We bought the tickets online, so there is no need to wait in the queue for a long time. Is 10 minutes walking from the train station, and along the way, you can see Robin Hood statue.
The views, the place.. just in love 😍 You can learn many things, and for kids they are so many things and activities inside the castle/museum.
We took a CAVE tour as well for £5/person...is something to not miss.

Came today on the heritage day £1.First time I've been since the renovation's and it's fab. A lot of mixed reviews online but can honestly say it's well worth the visit. Lot's for the kids to do took us 3 hours just to get round it all. Will definitely be back again!

Great place, we took my mum in law out for her birthday, and it was a lovely and interesting visit. £12 per adult, and you then have 12 months free admission, and because kids go free, we will be able to take our grandchildren as many times as we want, win-win, I say 😀. The art galleries and other displays were so interesting, and in my book, every day is a school day. Don't miss out on this experience.

Very good place to visit for at least half a day. There is a play ground and some video games for kid, museum for grown ups, and a killer view from up there (especially on a sunny day).

Very nice visit here on bank holiday. Very modern castle due to restoration. Some parts were really nice whilst some were bit empty. However really good visit and nice experience. Everything is kept neat and tidy.

Recently renovated, the castle is almost in the city centre with lovely views of the surrounding area. A nice playground outside with Robin Hood theme. Also many indoor activities in Robin Hood adventurers entrance. Beautiful artworks as well and nice cafe inside. Would recommend if you are in Nottingham.

Visited the castle today and was quite impressed with the layout of this place and the range of activities offered. restaurant was good for dinner, although a little expensive. The coffee shop was OK for drinks but cake was stale and had to be sent back!
Robin Hood experience was great, really enjoyed the archery and story about the characters. Activities were very wheelchair friendly, which was very much appreciated
Be aware there is no parking on site, and local car park was not wheelchair friendly. The castle due to its location has issues in this respect but has really tried hard to overcome them. Worth a look!

Great day out for kids and not bad prices for cafe. There is a nice playground for kids and there seems to be something for everyone you also get a yearly ticket for the price of a single entry

I really enjoyed it here today, beautiful view, great little museum, and caves tour. Cafe was over price but tasted good.

Nothing left of the original castle but the later building houses a very good museum on 4 floors. However it might be just me but I found it a bit difficult to find my way around once inside as the stair wells are at various places and it's not obvious how to get to the next floor. Ground are dog friendly but gardens are not that well kept. Adventure play area for kids looks very good.

We visited on a weekday so it wasn’t much crowded. Booked tickets in advance therefore could go in quickly. Beautiful castle. You can see the Robin Hood statue nearby the castle.

The castle is absolutely 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀! There is so much to do, you could easily spend the whole day here and then even have a bit of time to go into the beautiful city centre to explore more and fully immerse yourselves in all things Robin Hood!
We last visited the castle several years ago, and as lovely as it was, there wasn’t much to keep you engaged. Fast forward to 2023, and Nottingham Castle have reopened their gates once again to the public and it’s a brilliant full day out for families now!
First of all, it’s 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲. Most of the gallery rooms you go into have hands on activities. You can make your way to the 𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗻 𝗛𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 and enjoy the digital games on offer such as archery, you can try on some costumes and even learn more about Sherwood Forest. We loved this part of the castle.
There are 4 more floors of galleries to explore, and a cafe on site. There’s plenty of grass so you could take a picnic to save on cost. There’s also a lift within the castle too for access.
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁?… 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁!
£12 per adult
Kids go FREE 15 years and under! (3 per paid adult)
Plus you pay once, then you can visit all year round as many times as you like. It’s such brilliant value for money!
We also went on the 𝗰𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗿. This is an additional £5 per person. It’s a 40 minute tour of the sandstone caves below the castle. We loved it and the guide gave lots of information too.
Lastly, the 𝗵𝘂𝗴𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗸 is such a great asset and brilliant for kids to explore, play and use their imagination in the fort.
We parked in Broad Marsh Car Park. It’s a 11 minute walk to the castle which takes you through the city centre square where you’ll find restaurants and shops. Up to 6 hours is £11.00, which is quite expensive but think this is normal for Nottingham. Another option is park and ride sites with the tram too. The car parks are free and a group ticket for unlimited travel on 1 day is £8.00 (for 1 or 2 adults and up to 3 children). This is for weekends and school hols, term time is £12.00. The best one would be The Forest (NG7 6AQ). Free parking, a 7 min tram ride to Old Market Square. From there, the castle is an 8 minute walk away.
Tokku Taco
Great place to spend the day with tours available for around £15 to £30 person to see everything inside the castle.
