The Randolph hotel, another morse themed hostelry in Oxford but at the top end of luxury and expense. Table service only, £8 pound a pint, £300 pound a night ; I'll leave you to imagine the food prices. Well with a visit to experience the ambiance. Don't be put off thinking you have to be a resident or affluent, all reasonably well attired people are welcome.

What an absolutely delightful place to have afternoon tea and relax. Excellent service executed by a dedicated and friendly team who are a wonderful credit to the venue

Today's Sunday lunch was an absolute pleasure.
I was welcomed into Alice by Maitre D Damien and served by the friendly and heartwarming Alpha!
The roast beef was cooked to perfection with all the traditional trimmings and was served with lashings of beef jus. All ingredients were freshly cooked and so colourful in contrast.
For a change I had a dessert which was the blackcurrant and champagne sorbet. A little sweet for my taste but preferable to the Szechwan pepper ice-cream also on offer!
Later I retired to the bar in the lobby where I enjoyed a lovely cream tea served by Bar Manager Nick who to my surprise now has blue hair!!
This is still by far one of the few venues in Oxford to enjoy good food, excellent service and a quiet corner to read a few chapters of a book or simply engage in some people watching for a while!

Very good. Our favourite bar in Oxford. No food really in here but the best cocktails you'll find.
A small comfortable hotel bar themed around the late actor John Thaw and the character he played, Morse, there are fine cocktails, a great selection of spirits and a knowledable barman. Prices are as high end as the location. Can be crowded in the day.
Service so slow, barman couldn't find the amaretto which was on the shelf in front of him, and served posh people with cards before myself and tourists who were there waiting for 15 minutes to get served 🤔, obviously only meant for the elite and not normal people, some Americans weren't impressed nor was I, met a lady who had never heard of Morse ?? And had no idea why it was famous, her favourite programme was the kardashians??? I had to explain and was surprised 😮 by the person being a slow on the uptake
I will give it five stars because I can't think of a single thing that was an issue or annoyance. It did seem different to when I last visited (last time was a long time ago), however I can not really explain how it is different. Maybe they moved the furniture around, or changed the furniture, I am not sure. But it did seem different. I had a nice time there. Thank you for a lovely setting to enjoy a birthday drink with a great friend. A "must see" for inspector morse fans, that is for sure.

A beautiful bar, warm and cozy. A great place for a cup of tea in a cold day.

Beautiful refurbishment, although I'd perhaps prefer it slightly smokier / darker.
