Fishermans Wharf

We used to really rate this chip shop the food was always cooked perfectly, we went here tonight and ordered a cod, large chips and a savaloy. The fish wasn't a good piece and the batter was disgusting and overcooked and the chips were the same! as if they had been cooked twice then reheated, luckily there new portion sizing was pretty rubbish so we didn't have many between us. The savaloy was fine but then I don't think it's that easy to ruin one of those. Really dissapointed :(

Visited today for food for five. Chicken nuggets + chips X2, small chips X1, Cod & Chips X1 and Saveloy+Fish Cake & chips plus a bread roll. Charged £21.40 in all. Made the mistake of saying "you ought to be on the seafront charging those prices. The gentleman retorted "but you wouldnt get the same quality down there". Do you know? He was spot on. Having fed most of the stale, brown, limp disgusting chips (possibly cooked in old diesel oil from a railway locomotives sludge tank) to the non too fussy gulls at Eastney we ventured (eventually) towards the little cafe by Canoe Lake. My my my, how we five looked on in green eyed envy at the jolly families scoffing their way through piles of crispy golden chips! My suggestion to the Oilmans Wharf Chip/Deep Fried Mars Bars (ought to have walked straight out when I saw that on your menu) is to advise your "manager" about 'QUALITY' prior to spouting off about it as he clearly wouldnt recognise quality if it jumped out of the fryer and slapped him about the face. Come to think of it, I believe there ARE probably things living in that grotty old fat/oil/hazardous waste you fry your chips in that WILL jump out and slap his face. Utterly vile food - eat at yourl peril. I feel cheated!
