Superb brewery owned pub
Excellent real ale highly recommend! Highly dog friendly. Jessie the Collie loved it as did her parents.
Lovely place Room was large and very clean, the breakfast was fantastic, left the car in the long stay car park only a few minutes away from the Guest House and was only £4:50 for 24 hour and the location is great right in the Square thanks we will be going back 👍
Welcoming and friendly. One of the best pubs amongst stiff competition in the already impressive market town of Richmond North Yorkshire. The Castle Tavern is under a 1000 year old, well preserved actual Norman castle, and fronted by the largest cobbled area in Britain. The Castle Tavern’s staff are friendly. The prices are great and the food is nice too. Lovely pub.
Fabulous 5 night stay, very friendly. Large clean room with private bathroom that included a bath and shower.
Lovely staff and great overnight stay. Our room was big, with a good bathroom. Many breakfast options and the evening menu was varied - I'd recommend the black and blue burger.
All staff were very accommodating with our baby and allergies.
First time visiting tonight and I'd argue its the best atmosphere we've found in Richmond!
After sampling the majority of pubs in Richmond we ended up settling here.
Live music, great bar staff and really reasonable prices. Highly recommended. Special mention to Sasha behind the bar, probably the friendliest, funniest bar maid I've ever met and more than willing to accommodate "unusual drinks" 🤣
If you do anything while you visit Richmond stop at the Castle. You will not regret it.
On arrival greeted with a smile
All staff went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable.
Would Definitely recommend this pub and accommodation
Lovely pub with great local beer. Best bar in Richmond.
I'm a fair reviewer so I'm talking about my experience. If you want the Ritz or a high end hotel ....go to them. If you want a reasonably priced stay with good food, warm welcome and a bed to lay your head then the Castle Tavern is the place for you. Situated in the town square of Richmond opposite the castle it's perfectly placed to get around. The room I stayed in was large but as it is a listed building the windows are as they were so don't expect mod-cons. There was plenty of brew making gear....TV....WiFi, plenty of towels.
Breakfast was "top drawer" and well prepared. I had an evening meal and it was again top drawer. All fresh and good quality ingredients.....plenty of local ales to choose from. Staff were lovely and friendly, very welcoming and smiling.....no grumpy people here. All in all I was more than happy, some people may complain but it's an old tavern and you need to look with better eyes.
Lovely Sunday roast and really dog friendly - at least 4 dogs indoors and even allowed in the carpeted dining room.Great range of real ales too.
A perfect pub!
