This really is a hidden gem in Ripon, it’s is very busy and I advise booking in advance . Even though it’s busy,service doesn’t really suffer and all the staff are happy to help .. it’s authentic, the warm bread and cabbage your offered to tempt our taste buds alone is worth the visit it’s yummy !! Food is full of flavour and the menu is bursting with choice and everything is reasonably priced. Will definitely be booking again on my next visit back to Ripon it’s a firm family favourite !! Keep up the good work guys x
Staff are very attentive and welcoming. The food is divine. We had the lamb shank and fillet steak. Beautiful wine. And great choice of liqueurs and coffee. Will be back!
Absolutely fantastic. Wonderful service and food. We were a party of 15 and everything was perfect. We had a wide range of food including pizza, steak and pasta dishes. All meals were lovely. The service was spot on too.

Great food, we had the set menu option and the starter was huge! I went for mussels and there was plenty. My second course was pasta which looked a little on the small side but in reality more than plenty. I wanted to go for dessert but my belly wouldn’t have it 🤣 absolutely delicious and I’ll probably go back before I leave 🥰
Discovered Mario's by accident but what a lucky find.
My Wife and I found we were early for a function so has a stroll around the city and chanced on this lovely restaurant. The Staff were friendly and welcoming and the food was superb. We have booked again for this Friday.

Mario's met and exceeded my expectations completely. It looked lovely, warm, and welcoming from the outside, and the menu was impressive, extensive, and really varied, so I was already expecting to enjoy the visit. But the actual experience was absolutely marvellous! Food, service, and ambience were all first class, friendly, and highly recommended. My husband is also gluten-free, which usually adds a note of tension to what he can normally expect in terms of choice and quality. Not the case at Mario's at all. Lots of choices and options and madecwith care and attention to detail. Both meals were a credit to the chef and the kitchen! I watched other people's meals being served, and they also all looked fantastic. I can definitely recommend the linguine with crab and crayfish in saffron, white wine, and chilli sauce. Never tasted any better Italian food anywhere, and I was in Rome just a few weeks ago! It's much cheaper to visit Ripon and have a stroll past the Minster in the evening sunshine and an Aperol Spritz in Mario's! Thank you! We will be coming back with our family soon.
Went to Mario's yesterday and as an Italian I can tell you one thing : they DO serve proper Italian food. Marco, Mario's son spent some time at our table he is adorable and you can tell he is very passionate about what he does. Pasta is cooked al dente, sauces are not greasy and pizzas are top notch 👌 😋 please don't skip this restaurant. A big hug to Mario's mum, what a sweet hard working lady 💖 Anna from Italy 🇮🇹 (and the English crew from yesterday)
Great staff and lovely food. The pizzas are ginormous and do not require a side on the early bird menu (which is also great value)
We tried all the Italian restaurants here. This is by far the best!!! We have been back a few times, it never disappointed us!!!
