Awesome pub with awesome staff that always go the extra mile. Took our parents for a drink and meal yesterday as we have just moved to the village , they brought their dog and the staff couldn't do enough, brought her water and biscuits - very lovely touch . The food and service are outstanding - can't wait to go back - It's our favourite! :) X
Amazing place for Sunday Lunch. Been today with friends. Prawn and scollop starter was delicious. Went for the roast beef dinner which was presented beautifully with roast potatoes and roast parsnips and a great selection of vegetables.
Dessert menu was spoilt for choice such an extensive choice. went for the cheeseboard again presented beautifully. delicious crackers
Very busy place.and you can see why food was first class for a busy pub. service a little slow but you can excuse that when the food is worth waiting for. Thanks.
We were served by Tasha and Amy. We did have to wait a little while to be served at the start(although we were spoken to straight away and was given an apology) but once served it was fantastic service, very attentive, I also want to say how well I felt Tasha did dealing with some potentially difficult customers. The food was outstanding chef mason and Emma did a wonderful job. Was a great treat for my birthday.
A fantastic menu in a wonderfully traditional pub. Oak beams, lovely decor, great beers, plenty of choice on the menu, and delicious food ... all served with a smile. The quiet country village of Whiston also provides the perfect backdrop. Loved it.
Good friendly service nice atmosphere.
Two of us had the pie of the day which was steak and wine. It was presented lovely with nice veg the meat was a bit tough n chewy. It wasn’t enough that we complained about it as the rest was nice but we didn’t enjoy it as much as some of the other dishes that we’ve had before
Service and food were fantastic. The waitress was friendly,funny and welcoming. Would be good if meals were cheaper as we used a voucher other wise we would not have visited.
It was a last-minute decision to try the Golden Ball
We had to change our venue as the previous place would have ranked 3 at best. Anyway we found the staff to be all very accommodating putting tables together so our group could be all together. The service was excellent and the food was perfect and the choice extensive everything from steak to vegetarian all cooked very well all situated in a quiet relaxed atmosphere. We liked it so much we are going again and we live in Stockport Cheshire.

The mash and pies were great. The pizza and kids burger were a little dry but still nice. The drinks were all really nice. Atmosphere was lovely as always.

We attended the golden ball inn for a maternity leaving meal/baby shower with work colleagues. The staff were very helpful throughout booking, arrival, set up, ordering, serving and assisting our group of 11. They were efficient throughout and very polite. The food was lovely and the drinks were great. The staff were helpful with people who had intolerances and explained their kitchen policy. Staff allocated us a separate area of the pub which was lovely. Allowed us to decorate the area of the pub without issue and even helped with blue tack! Thank you so much
We have visited The Golden Ball a number of times. Each visit service was 100%. On our most recent trip we was served by Olivia and Sarah, as always both were spot on. The food at the Inn is great. I recommend downloading the Vintage Inn app before visiting to make the most of any offers they have on. When we last visited the offer on the app meant free drinks for our party!
Four of us called in for a meal on saturday, everything was fine, and it was nice to have a bit of banter with the lovely Sarah, a night out is not always just the food, a good waitress is just as important! We'll be back!
