We are very rarely in Salisbury, but tonight the kids were at a birthday party so myself and my partner decided to have a meal whilst waiting around for a couple of hours. We stumbled across this pub, really friendly and polite staff, food absolutely delicious and massive portions making it well worth the money, which also wasn't too pricey. Would recommend and would go again. Only one little thing, it does seem quite small and squashed a little in some areas, but that adds to its character.
Lovely atmosphere - family run pub feel. Hostess (owner?) was lovely and provided great personalised service and alongside the chef catered for my mum's dietary requirements with no fuss and an absolutely beautiful meal. Everything was fresh with decent size portions - couldn't fault the dishes (or the price) at all. Would definitely go back and recommend it to others.
We were planning to go to a big chain restaurant but changed our mind and found this lovely pub restaurant. So glad we did, Very friendly staff, we had a table with a candle that gave a great feel, comfortable chairs. A fireplace completing the cosy feel. Food was fantastic with good portions of meat but also a good selection of accompanying vegetables. Good real ale on tap. As well as great value. Definitely one above typical pub grub.
Quaint little pub, really quite busy however - so you need to either time it right or call in advance.
Cooked and made from scratch, or so we were told, so expect a bit of a wait - not suitble for a quick bite but the food is rrally good so definitely worth it.

Also, if you fancy meeting a bear this is the place to go. Super chill dog, stays very much by the bar or has a little wander. Very soft. Would recommend petting.
What an excellent lunch we had here. 5 minutes away from the cathedral on a side street so very convenient for visitors. The Menu was varied with sandwiches as well as main meals, the service was lovely and friendly. If you park in the George mall multistorey across the road you get a discount off your food.
Stumbled across this little gem. Cosy character pub. Had the home made lasagne and it was delicious and well presented. Staff very friendly and made you feel welcome. Reasonably priced so definitely worth a return visit.
Great little pub, good food and beer. Staff were friendly and service was with a smile. Will certainly be going back !
We had two steaks £30.
They were perfectly cooked, Exactly as requested.
The trimmings were all very good too. And the Beer was perfectly kept.
Many thanks indeed for the great service too
Proper old traditional pub.
Great selection of food and drink.
Had a lovely open fireplace to sit back and enjoy one of their lovely beverages in front of.
Dog friendly nice local place.
Hello to everyone reading this. My name is Chris and I stay in Salisbury every week for work and constantly look for a nice venue for an evening meal. Having tried several locations in the city, I have to say The Wig and Quill on New Street comes out on top. The Management Gemma,Mark and staff along with owner Rob make you so welcome with a fantastic atmosphere. The food is absolutely first class and in my opinion tops any restaurant. I seriously recommend this venue for a superb evening out, whether on business or pleasure. 10 out of 10 Wig and Quill

Went for a Sunday roast. Reasonably priced with extras available for a few quid. Both adults and kids meals were good portion sizes and tasted delicious. Toilet was a little dated but it's an old pub so to be expected. Highly recommend booking.
Wet through from being rained on, we came in here for some refuge. The landlord was friendly and put the fire on for us to dry out. Lovely atmosphere and nice place to be. Enjoyed some nice wine. Will be back for sure.
