An on platform station brewpub with a great selection of beers and a very sympathetically restored bar with Grecian architecture which creates a special atmosphere.
Coming through Sheffield quite a lot recently, it’s always a pleasure to stop off at this lovely Good Beer Guide listed venue for an hour or two whilst waiting for connecting trains. There are quite a few compartments/joining rooms to the back and side of the bar, so it’s easy to find a quiet spot to wait time, although on Saturdays it does tend to get busy.
The beers - usually around 10 casks at peak times, and the same amount in keg form, plus ciders, and an extensive bottles and can range - are served in great condition and cover a wide range of styles from pale ales to stouts to sours and other more interesting concoctions.
Thornbridge is typically represented in the line up, as are the operators, Tapped Brew Co., but guest breweries are plentiful and the line up rotates often. Staff are friendly and warn you if the price of a pint is significantly more than you would normally expect to pay (which is possible with some of the more limited edition or hop forward beers). Generally, I found the cask ales to be £4.50-£5.50/pint, but the keg could be up to £8 for a 5% abv.
Absolutely recommended to stop off for a refreshing beverage if you are in Sheffield or changing trains there.
This was a great pub to visit before catching my train, with a throwback design including the counter and pub logo. The staff were friendly and served me quick; I had a refreshing pint of Berry Cider! Prices were a bit much, although the seating and table were up to standards.

Large station pub in Sheffield. Plenty of beers to choose from, including many foreign ones. Prices can be high. Plenty of seating inside (And it's needed, as it gets very busy during peak hours), plus a number of covered tables on the outside (towards the city). Not the most charming pub to be sure, but it can be attractive for adventurous drinkers.

Excellent pub on Platform 1b of Sheffield Station. Ten cask beers - and 1 cider - on handpump when I visited including a mild and a stout. Was the 1st class refreshment room in days of yore. Big garden with a few tables and chairs to the rear. The pub also hosts a microbrewery "Tapped Brew Co."
Great station pub in a beautiful building. Excellent selection of craft beers and sold at decent prices. Friendly staff too. I highly recommend this pub should you ever go to Sheffield.
If only every railway station had a bar like the Sheffield Tap to pass the time comfortably whilst waiting for your next train arrival….Cheers
Great pub. Located in the old First Class waiting rooms. Lovely venue and brilliant range of beers. Great place to start or end a session if you're travelling via train.
Can get busy with lots of after work drinkers but you can usually find a space.
Olde English traditional pub with over 20 beers on tap. Actually adjacent to the train station. One extra ace from the road and another onto the station.
At least 2 beers brewed here at the adjacent Tapped Brew Co. More beers in anyone place I have visited in Sheffield!!!
Friendly wait staff, will provide samples when requested. Terrific select of beverages. Including tea & coffee.
No food here.
All on one level, so accessible by wheelchair.

Friendly, polite, efficient staff. Went last thing on a Friday and the seating areas were still reasonably clean and welcoming.
Either I was unlucky, or the toilets need checking more regularly, but it was usable.
The range of beers here is unusual and varied. If you're a real ale lover then you will appreciate these and good luck trying them all and being able to walk later!
Last visited when this was an outlet for Thornbridge Brewery. ( Great brewery.) It now has a great selection from around the country. Being a Sussex boy I chose one from my home county. Bedlam brewery in Lewes. Home of Harvey's brewery and one of my favourite places in the world. Also Black Storm from North Shields to follow. Popular bar on Sheffield station; not just for passing travelers. Outdoor seating to front.
