This is a wholesale bakery but each Saturday morning it opens to the public as a cafe/bread shop. I like the cinnamon buns and the country loaves. They sell many kinds of pastries, handmade bread of many types and coffee beans (which they roast themselves). They make excellent coffee, and have a couple of picnic benches in the car park outside where you can eat a pastry and have a cuppa on a sunny Saturday morning. It is on the Southampton..Lyndhurst cycle route.
This is the only proper artisanal bakery in the area. No sausage rolls. No pasties. But amazing pastries and bread that’s all too easy to scoff in one sitting. They have some shops in Lymington, Winchester and Bishops Waltham, but the OG is here, where they make the stock for restaurants and shops.
They were brilliant, a godsend during lockdown, heaven sent treats through the dark days but they are back to normal now so are only open on Saturdays, from 9am. Get here early.
Country sourdough - soft and pliable, a crust to savour and the sourdough magic Hoxton do so well. The seeded sourdough my personal fave, the Unami flavours from the toasted seed in the crust work so well with an unhealthy slab of Président undated butter.
The Pastries - my choice would be the citrus bun in the photo.. so sharp it feels like it will cut you in half, but the just-right sugar catches you in time to enjoy the flakes of the bun. Black coffee rounds that off nicely.
This isn’t your everyday bakery. This is something special. Treat yourself.
Got up early on a Sunday for this and it was worth it! There was a bit of a queue already so shows it's decent but we didn't wait long. Lots of produce, freshly baked and all delicious! Friendly service. Will definitely be coming back.
Lovely staff, plus the pastries are the best pastries on the planet! The bread is also incredible. Highly recommend to anyone and everyone
I love Hoxton bakehouse! Some of the best pastries I've ever had, I am never disappointed. The customer service is excellent, such a lovely team who make ordering with Hoxton an absolute delight. I recently emailed a question about my order and Sam got back to me so quickly, her customer service goes above and beyond - she is a star! I will be forever going to Hoxton for all my pastry and bread needs, I highly recommend.
Turned up not long before they closed so there wasn't much left to choose from but the coffee was really good 👌
Amazing bread and pastries! I hope they will open a place more central in Southampton to sell their delicious bread :)
Probably Southampton's best kept secret. I worked a short walk away and never realised there was a bakery here (probably because it only open on weekends!) Best pastry I've ever had. Quite big too. Worth the money!
Scrumptious bakery in Southampton. I've been looking for a propper bakery (somewhere that does more than iced buns and tuns lunch rolls) for the last 3 years in Southampton. Now I've found it! My family is partly French and I've been spoiled with French bakeries and patisseries in my past. Hoxton is the closest I've found so far. THmhe Owner is a really lovely lady as well,. Couldn't be happier!
Since first in Winchester Farmers' Market, I have eaten nothing other than Hoxton Bakehouse Bread. It is simply wonderful, with proper crust, unbeatable taste...and Oh the pleasure of all those butter traps in sourdough bread! Each loaf lasts a long time too.
