Ye Olde Chippy

Visited Ye Olde Chippy yesterday with a group of 10 adults with learning disabilities and 4 carers. The staff were amazing. So kind, generous and patient. The food was great and everyone had a lovely lunch. One of our group is gluten free which they also catered for. 100% would recommend a visit if you are in Southend.

Not the same sinced it moved. Would have given 5 stars but they don't pre warn you the wall menu isn't the same as the sit down menu. So after waiting for what seemed like an eternity we couldn't have what we had hoped. On the way to the toilet the kids ball pit had a very strong smell of urine!! Well done for the waitresses..very lovely girls. Saying that I wouldn't eat inside again.

Visited as a group of six for lunch on a busy Saturday. We were seated straight away and drinks orders taken. The food was brought out promptly, and everything was piping hot and very fresh. I had the scampi and chips with mushy peas, which was absolutely delicious! Loved the addition of the indoor play area for the young children, which kept them entertained whilst we waited on lunch to arrive. The waitress was also super friendly and offered us a generous NHS discount when I asked if it was accepted. Overall a great experience - can’t wait to return!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the fish and chip shop in Southend, and I must say, it was an absolutely fantastic experience! From the moment I walked through the door, the staff greeted me with warm smiles and impeccable service. Their genuine friendliness created a welcoming and inviting atmosphere that made me feel right at home. Now, let's talk about the food. Oh my, where do I begin? The fish and chips were out of this world! The fish was perfectly cooked, tender, and flaky, encased in a light and crispy batter that had just the right amount of seasoning. And the chips...oh, the chips! They were golden and crispy on the outside, and soft and fluffy on the inside, just as they should be. Every bite was pure bliss.

Nice big fish. Chips were tasty. The chips don't look all that, but they were quite nice! Place a bit untidy and not very clean. Sat in the dine in area of the takeaway side. The dine in side was very busy. They also seem understaffed. Don't know if tartare sauce was a sauce option. Did not get tartare sauce as a dip. I got other sauces in bottles. Thought that tartare sauce would be a standard if having fish and chips.

I only ordered chips but let me tell you, these were the best chips I’ve ever gotten from a chippy. They were so fresh and fluffy. Wishing I had tried the fish aswell but if it’s anything like their chips then it was definitely brilliant. (Portion size was a little small however). Staff were very nice and polite and the shop was mostly clean.
