Victoria Lounge Bar

Visited here on a Sunday as a brand new customer. The interior is a bit dark and dingy as there are no windows anywhere and no natural lighting, but would be cosy I suppose in winter. I felt a bit claustrophobic. The bar area looks nice and staff are pleasant. Drinks are very reasonably priced. I ordered at the bar an adult Sunday Roast for £8.50. It arrived at my table in good time. First observation is that the plate is on the small side but is fairly well loaded with food. The beef tasted nice and was mainly tender but had some gristle and fat around the edges of the slices. So some meat was left on the plate. I thought the portion size was only just adequate to be honest. Please note the kitchen actually cooks roast joints of meat, so the meat does not come out of a pouch. You get a number of veggies like carrots, brocolli and cauliflower and these tasted okay and the portions were good. There were also boiled potatoes which also tasted nice. The disappointment was with the single roast potato which tasted fatty with oil and not nice. But the Yorkie Pud tasted delicious. Please note all veggies are fresh and NOT frozen. The star of the show was the gravy which was exceptional and I was lucky to have asked for an extra pot ( at no extra charge). It was delicious. To sum up the Roast dinner was Good but NOT Excellent. At the price I guess it was reasonable. There were quite a few diners having the Roast dinner so it is popular. Not sure yet whether I will return for more roast dinners!

We hired the Dudson Suite at Victoria Lounge Bar last weekend for my dads surprise retirement party. Great room! Great bar! We set up the night before, staff very friendly and accomodating. Barman was brilliant, couldn't help us enough. Everyone had a fab night, and I would definitely use the room again for a party. Thank you! Highly recommend

We visit here whenever we go to the local theatres, which is quite regular. The pub is always clean and the staff always friendly. There is a good atmosphere and it gets very busy so is obviously well loved by a lot of people. We had food on the last visit. It was good simple food, tasty but not over facing and a fair price. Would we visit again? Absolutely 😀
