Restaurant At Samling

Wow. The Samling is the definition of quiet luxury in British style. We stayed for two nights and everything was exceptional - attention to details, comfort of the room, peaceful hot tub overlooking the lake, delicious breakfast, and the tasteful art curation (Miro & Picasso!!!). The hotel exceeded my expectations (we travel a ton), and the Samling experience is one of the top. Very impressed by the level of care the entire team of Samling staff put into this special place.

We had the pleasure of spending four days at The Samling during the late autumn season, and our experience left us thoroughly enchanted. Every aspect of our stay was a testament to this unique establishment, from the cozy cottage room to the thoughtfully arranged garden, the culinary creation of Chef Robby Jenks, the extensive and expertly selected wine collection – thanks to their knowledgeable somm – to the art pieces by the Spanish masters, and the spectacular views of Lake Windermere. This isn't a conventional luxury retreat; it's a celebration of natural beauty, heritage, local culture, and personal touches. We're already planning our return in a different season to experience a harmonious blend of tranquility and indulgence anew.

We travelled to Lake Windermere and spent two nights at The Samling Hotel. The staff were attentive and went out of their way to ensure a wonderful stay. They asked great questions, thought about every detail and pre-empted all of our needs. Very professional. The views are spectacular and our Michelin Star dining experience was sublime. Special acknowledgement to our accredited Sommelier, who was engaging and to Denisa, Rebecca and Lisa for their charming service. The ladies in reception were both professional and warm, providing me with maps, water bottles, and suggestions for my trail walk. A special thank you to Alessandro for his meticulous attention to detail. Breakfast in the main dining room under his watchful eye, whilst overlooking the stunning gardens and lake is not to be missed. What an incredible team! Loved it!

An absolute gem of a property and dining experience, living in the Lake District. It’s hard to find a consistent food venue, as an ex hotelier, I wanted to get it right however, here at this wonderful establishment we were treated to a Food and Wine 5 star experience, it was an important meal due to the fact it was for my wife’s Clare's birthday, and I wanted it to be special, I have to say we were not disappointed, the setting, the food and the ambience was 2nd to none, however, the real icing on the cake was the team members, who were caring, attentive, and totally professional, some hidden, heroes were Rebecca, food, and beverage manager, and host extraordinaire, “Nigel Williamson” these guys along with the rest of the team are an absolute credit to the hospitality industry and are ambassadors for this hotel. 10 out of 10 an absolute fabulous experience. Absolutely outstanding. I've lived locally for over 20 years and never been. Dined there last weekend and it was superb. Outstanding service, the meal delicious and overall the experience was top drawer. They've got one michellin star, and I won't be surprised when they are awarded a second. Definitely worth a visit.

We ate lunch in the restaurant and it was truly one of the most memorable lunches that we've ever had. Norbert was our waiter and provided absolutely first class service. The view is spectacular with a giant picture window overlooking the lake. The three course lunch meal is very reasonably priced for the quality you get. We had the fish and chips, onion soup and toffee dessert. You step outside and see the Shetland ponies and the sheep and lambs grazing in the expansive green meadows below the restaurant.
