A must-visit when in York, Penny's Bespoke Foodhouse is a family-owned business that serves one of the tastiest full English breakfasts in town! There was a bit of a wait, but we didn't mind as the ambiance inside the restaurant was lovely. The waitstaff were also incredibly friendly and a good source for local sightseeing tips. Overall, it's a great place to fuel up (the portion sizes are quite generous!) before heading out for a full day of exploring.
Simply the best cafe in York. Penny and Cas are friendly, down to earth and welcoming. Very reasonably priced and good quality food. A great selection of food and drink choices too. I often go most weekends and highly recommend to anyone considering a visit. Whether solo or in a group, it's a great space for all!
The place is small but very cozy with nice staff.
Good cappuccino and a hot chocolate (very huge and with marshmallows!) but most of all the English breakfast is amazing and at a good price too. It is absolutely freshly cooked, so tasty and in generous portions
I never usually have a full fry-up but it was freezing and I was in need of something hearty! It was a generous portion, excellent value for money, and made bespoke, so soft eggs and crispy bacon but not at all greasy. You could tell the produce was good quality. The service was lovely and welcoming from the outset. It’s not the place for a speedy meal but it was so nice not to feel rushed. Will definitely visit again.
Traditional cafe. I had the full breakfast. The "bespoke" in the name comes from being able to order everything pretty much as you want it. I had crispy bacon, black pud, brown toast and chilli sauce on the lightly done eggs. Friendly staff, good coffee, quality ingredients and a decent price for inside the ring road. I'd definitely take people here.
Cannot recommend Penny’s enough!! I’ve been twice with a friend and my only regret is not being able to go more often! The owners are incredibly kind, hospitable, and they make the food themselves. It’s currently just an awesome mother/son duo and they are crushing it. Delicious homemade food, friendly environment, and a bang for your buck. Who could ask for anything more? Go now!
Brilliant veggie and meaty full breakfasts. The service is also exceptional at this lovely little cafe, we were asked how we wanted our coffee (strong, not too strong etc) how we wanted our fried eggs cooked and how crispy we wanted our bacon. 😋😋😋
Really nice to see reopen after the Pandemic. We went here one month ago and had a lovely brunch. People here are so nice like three years ago when I first came to York, first time going abroad for education, tasting "first brunch" in England. Thx the lovely food and nice people here which makes the wonderful memories. Sry to forget the photos, but the new dish omelet with cheese and ham is really tasty.
Such a lovely place with an amazing breakfast! Definitely recommend the full English. The eggs were beautiful and orange and the bacon was so crispy and delicious! The customer service was top notch with the proper chatty Yorkshire charm. There was such a generous amount of tea I couldn’t finish it!
First time here and it's awesome, polite, friendly, very nice staff and a good cup of Yorkshire tea, smashing 😀
