We were recommended Bombay spice by my parents and it didn't disappoint. Very friendly staff, prompt service and excellent food. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting York, and we'll certainly be back !!

Bombay Spice is one of the best Indian Restaurants in York. This was our first time here and will not be our last. From the food to the service to the decor. It was a truly exceptional evening. Highly, highly recommended.
For starters we had Onion Bhaji and Chicken Chatt. For main we had Chicken Balti and Lamb Jalfrezi with Pilau Rice and Garlic Naan.
Food was delicious, starter lovely, curry on par- very tasty; however, meat to both dishes was overcooked.
Service: cannot fault, attentive in all the right places. Gave enough time between courses and offered refreshments in-between. Even offered a night cap on the house.
Atmosphere: cosy, warm, authentic, lights dimmed, music good
Amazing!!!! Excellent service, they gave us a free drink each at the end. Food was amazing, it’s improved a lot and had a good makeover. The meat starter platter is 10/10.
Good quality food and not expensive
We have a great dinner, the service was a little bit rude, the food was quick and big portions.
Lovely experience - booked a table in advance and we had the place pretty much to ourselves which was nice. Service was spot on from the moment we got in. My girlfriend has a gluten allergy and they were so accommodating, kneeling down next do us to walk her through the menu saying what she can/can’t have. Food was perfect, exactly what you would want from an Indian! Will definitely be coming back
Absolutely fantastic, the service was great from the moment we walked through the door, we hadn't booked and they happily stated us, the food was amazing and I would easily say one of the best Indian meals I have had, amazing.
We were visiting York on Halloween weekend and was really pleased to have booked a table here. They have a big menu and a great selection of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. The food was very good and superbly prepared. The lamb dish was so well cooked, the meat was tender and full of flavors. The vegetable dish was very tasty and of good potion. The two naans were very good too. The atmosphere was nice and comfortable, and service was very good. We saw lots of ppl coming for takeaway too, so would recommend this if you are in the area and fancy a good curry.
Well.... I am not a usual fan of going out for Indian food, it's not my go-to. However, as a family we decided to go here (group of 12, around 6pm on a Saturday, pre-booked), and to my surprise the food here was DELICIOUS. I have tried other Indian restaurants in York before and found the curry's Stodgy and the rice very dry, but this restaurant was great for food on all fronts. We enjoyed some poppadoms followed by starters and then some mains. The staff were all very friendly, and very easy to ask for new drinks. A couple of small mix up with drinks (sizes mainly, asked for large but got small) but nothing to complain about.
Had a lovely time out, and would go back again.
We walked in last minute on a Saturday night as a table of 9 after being let down by a different restaurant. Bombay spice were very accommodating and prepared a table for us. The food was lovely & the staff were attentive. Highly recommended.
We were a party of 6 for a sit down, & can honestly say this was certainly 1 of the best Indians we've had as a family, the food, service, atmosphere & pricing spot on !... Will definitely use again when back in York for a stay ❤
