Nice cool dog friendly place with a good selection of beers and food.
Sat in the bar to eat as we had the dog, had the pulled pork pizza and a burger both were great. There was a reassuring wait for for food allowing us to have some of our drink and show that the food was freshly prepared and care was taken.
Only slight disappointment was a lack of Nachos on the menu.
I’m one for a burger, so far I used to think Coast to Coast held the title for the best burger. I’ve got to say that the Dirty Doris burger absolutely takes the title as being the best. Nice one guys, top burger whoo.
I had the Naughty Doris and my partner had the fish tacos. Be aware that the fish tacos, as with most things here, are a decent sized portion. The "small plate" label is definitely not applicable here! (Which is a good thing)
Absolutely insane food! Alex the chef personally came to see us. An absolute asset to the business. Tommy the waiter looked after us massively, friendly and attentive and you can tell he enjoyed the job.
The best steak and ribs we have ever had!
We visit York every year and will be back for sure.

Having been a visitor to York for many years I have had Pavement Vaults recommended to me a number of times but have never been. Today we visited for dinner and drinks and we thoroughly enjoyed the food and service. I was not expecting to find a full BBQ menu with slow smoked meats, and excellent burgers. The BBQ Beast platter featured the most tender St Louis Rib, a generous portion of succulent pulled pork, perfectly crispy chicken wings and delicious breaded buttermilk fried chicken. The accompanying chips, pickles and slaw were a very welcome addition and the two sauces were simple yet sublime. It tasted like the BBQ sauce was made in-house. The burger was juicy, packed full of flavour and topped with crispy bacon and cheese, with a large helping of the pulled pork to top it off. In hindsight, the side order of Macaroni Cheese might have been one dish too many, but we didn’t regret it, and having been craving Mac & Cheese for the past few week, this was simply wonderful. Service was super friendly and attentive and there was a chilled laid back vibe to the bar area.
Food at Pavement Vaults as well as the service was great. We first visited in 2022 and recently returned just over a year later and were just as pleased this time around as we were the first time. The only downside would be they do not allow takeout of leftovers. We had The XXL Tray between 2 persons as well as mac and cheese and looked forward to enjoying the leftovers as a quick snack or lunch the following day.
Fantastic burger, for my loyal followers, it might make it to my top 'best burger in York ', sorry Burgsy's!
I had the double bacon and cheese.
And today was the blue bull, with pulled beef and Yorkshire blue cheese, delicious.
Uniquely they also make their own brioche buns!
Found this place looking for a dog friendly pub!! Really busy when we arrived at 18:30 but much quieter within an hour. Oh my word. The food was so good. Couldn’t finish it so brought it home for later!
Came here as was passing and intrigued about the menu. Food is a bit on the pricey side, but I don't mind paying more if the food is good. The food here is really good with good portion sizes and the staff are friendly nice staff, so no complaints there.
Would come here again if I was in the area.
PS would be nice if they could box up left overs for a doggie bag instead of finding my own means.
We visited this fine establishment today. The food was absolutely amazing and a very big portion. Katy and Becca made a five star service. I highly recommend to walk in for a meal or drink. make sure it wasn’t a fluke.

One of the best meals I've had in a very long time, it's just a shame we live such a large distance away to keep coming back. The in house bbq sauce was amazing!
