Nice roomy pub, dog friendly with a big beer garden. Reasonable menu, but many items were not available including some roasts on a Sunday which was a shame. Roast beef slices were nice and tender and roast potatoes good, but veg were undercooked root and overcooked greens. Good sized portions and nice gravy.
Great pub, we come every year whilst camping down the road. Good choice of beers, staff are excellent. The place is always clean and out the back is fantastic, massive pergola that's heated and huge garden. My wife and I love this pub. A quiet afternoon drink today, food yesterday was lovely, cheers all.
This is a really nice pub. Very welcoming and friendly. The food was nice, but both our black puddings were rock hard, and my partners peas were hard, too. Overall it was a pleasant visit, and we will return. The beer garden is huge, we will definitely make use of that once it gets a little warmer.
Lovely pub! I hadn't been in here before but I'd passed it lots of times and it finally took my fancy. They had great decor up for Halloween. I ordered a steak and my wife ordered a cod and chips, the fish was a very good size and the steak was cooked really well! I reckon they have the best peppercorn sauce in all of york

I had a fantastic experience at the Walnut Tree, and I must commend the excellent service provided by Rebecca. From the moment I walked in, her warm and friendly demeanor set the tone for a memorable evening. Rebecca's attentiveness and knowledge of the menu ensured that our dining experience was truly delightful. The food was delicious, the atmosphere cozy, and the drinks were expertly crafted. It's clear that the Walnut Tree takes pride in its customer service, and Rebecca's exceptional service exemplifies this. What a fantastic pub. Loved my lunch in the beer garden with a crisp pint. Rebecca seems to be an excellent member of the bar staff I've never once had a bad drink poured! I also highly recommend the quiz nights they are great fun and only £2 entry.
Not been here before but came in for quiz night. I had a wonderful night out with the girl friends. Would definitely reccomend the chicken burger! The staff were very nice and accommodating for our large party size.
We’ve eaten here the last 2 nights with a big group visiting from America and really appreciate the friendliness of the staff who were very accommodating both times and even found a way to squeeze in our large party on a quiz night when we hadn’t booked in advance. Popped in for the quiz night and had a blast. The staff were amazing. My wife and I shared a combo sharer, definitely more than enough for the bother of us but was great.
Best local pub. Izzy poured me a lovely pint and went out her way to find some tequila after they had run out. Always enjoy a night here :)
