Always a pleasure going to Red Chilli! There's a great variety to choose from and definitely authentic.
Think the layout of the restaurant is great and it's ideal for family and friends gatherings. This will enable you to share more food and get to try out lots of different dishes together. It can be very intimate too as it has various seating arrangements.
Great food quality and the staff are very friendly and efficient.
Super helpful and friendly staff with almost unbelievably fast service. Food was very fresh and tasty. Nicely topped off by a cool modern decor and reasonably priced glasses of wine. Great authentic Chinese experience in York

The ambience of the restaurant is a hundred percent for me. It’s calm, dim light and beautiful (it suit my mood at the particular time). The food is absolutely tasty I didn’t know I’d finish the fish 🤣🤣. The Singapore vermicelli with hams and shrimp 🍤 was okay but I didn’t enjoy it probably because I was too full after the fish and the lemon ice tea. I spent 32.80 GBP for everything.
As close to authentic szechuan cuisine as I've had so far in England, very good ma po tofu.
The whole experience was beyond expectations. We went a bit early so we almost had the whole restaurant to ourselves. People started trickling in as time went by. We ordered stir-fried mutton (this was recommended by waiter and glad we chose it), duck fried noodles, spicy pig intestines (they were surprisingly very tasty. I am aware that the texture might not be for everyone -I loved it though!) and roast dough with minced pork which was crispy greasy heaven. Unfortunately they did not have the chicken feet which I really wanted to try. As dessert then we had deep fried banana balls which was covered in crispy thin sliced fried potatoes, covered with what tasted like sweet condensed milk (combination was on point!) and sweet glutinous rice balls in rice wine. Staff were very courteous and nice. We will definitely go again!
Some tasty Sichuan food yesterday at Red Chilli in York.
Sizzling beef with bao, pigs trotters & salt & pepper chicken wings.
All very tasty and good portion size.
Although I made the rookie mistake of not asking them to make it with authentic Sichuan strength spice & kick.
It definitely could have been a bit more spicy & numbing.
I’ve found many chinese restaurants tend to tone it down for western looking foodies. (As I guess many can’t handle the heat) I’ve experienced this in a few places now.
Anyhow a good meal overall and efficient customer service.
Food was cooked to perection. You can tell the chefs have pride in what they do in the detail. The Sichuan seafood Ma La dish was 100% authentic, blew my tongue on fire but it was right. enjoyed the meal and the service. well done guys
Fantastic food, lots of choice, menu has pictures of every dish which was helpful. Big portions, reasonable drinks menu, loved the pina colada!! Good decor & relaxed atmosphere. It is big open plan restaurant but seating is such to make it seem pleasantly warm & welcoming. Would definitely recommend & when in York again we will return.
Always love coming here for the dinnertime menu, value and quality is best you'll find in York.
Well work giving it a try between the hours of midday and 3pm.
I ordered chicken and sweetcorn soup, salt and pepper ribs and crispy shredded beefing in Cantonese sauce with egg fried rice can't go wrong at all for only £14.
They don't cut corners on quality, taste or portion size more than enough for 1 person.
Highly recommend this place only confusion is on window out side it says midday til 3pm and on the menu it's says til 2pm.
This is my third time visiting this restuarant. One of my favorite Chinese Sichuan restaurants in the UK. Big portions with low prices. Quick service.
