The Restaurant At Thorpeness Hotel & Golf Club

I was told that Thorpeness was good but tough and it did not disappoint. On arrival we made our way to the bar for a pre round drink it what was a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. The pro shop informed us that we were free to go after the group in front had gone so we had a quick warm up. The course is a very nice links course and it seems there is gorse everywhere so you need to be straight off the tee. The greens were tough, quick with lots of hidden breaks do a proper challenge. Each par 3 is a different challenge and each equally hard as the last. The fairways were plush and the rough thick and brutal to get out of. The house in the sky welcomes you home on 17 and 18 which are 2 great finishing holes. The rooms were perfectly adequate and the showers were hot and powerful which was great. The restaurant was very nice and the food was fantastic and there were no complaints from anyone in the group. All in all Thorpeness was a great venue for a weekend away golfing

Had an overnight stay for a birthday and engagement treat. The room location was great and originally we were bringing the dog, so it would have been ideal with a small enclosed courtyard from the room’s French windows. Booked into the restaurant and the friendliness and enthusiasm of the staff couldn’t be faulted. However, some could do either a bit more training as our expensive bottle of wine was just plonked (scuse the pun) on the table! Food was excellent. Particularly breakfast and staff very welcoming. Spent the next morning putting in the green and playing miniature golf for free. Followed by a 6K hike around the nature reserves and along the beach.
