Had a lovely time at Gandhi's cafe in Ambleside. We had a great filling vegetarian breakfast (vegan options available too) that set us up nicely before our long walk. The chai is recommended. We found the service to be great and friendly, we will be back whenever we find ourselves in the Lake District again.

Coming to the Lake District for a week as a gluten free vegan I didn't expect much, so this was such a hidden little gem for me!! The food, the staff, everything was amazing. They made you feel so welcome and it was so nice they catered so well for gluten free vegans too as not many vegan cafe's do. The food was so good we came back the next day for a takeaway too (falafel kebab) - I could even have a refined-sugar free cake!! Highly recommend, wish this was my local as I'd be here all the time

We had such a lovely, cosy meal here - it was just what we needed after a long hike in the cold. Staff are welcoming and helpful and the food absolutely fantastic. There are loads of vegan options in mains and desserts and I really appreciated that it wasn't just the standard fare. We'll definitely be back!

Small but amazing cafe serving vegan/veggie food only. Went there for lunch and was not disappointed. The portions are large and very reasonably priced. The taste is fantastic. The people who run the cafe are the nicest bunch. You may need to wait a little to get a table but it's absolutely worth the wait.

Spotted this gem of a place before our holiday and we weren’t disappointed! Fantastic home cooked food - we had the vegetarian burger and the Thali. Delicious food cooked with wholesome ingredients. Impeccably clean and staff so friendly and helpful. We will definitely return this week! The cakes looked delicious too, but I was too full to sample them!

Absolutely lovely food. Good portions as well. Good coffee and tea. Lovely waitress and very chilled atmosphere.

Got an oat latte (which came with a vegan shortbread!) and the big vegan breakfast. It was immense.
The staff were lovely and the portion size was enormous (just what you need before a big hike).
Dogs were allowed and there was a delicious looking selection of vegan cakes.
Will definitely be returning.

Unusual to find such colorful and exotic summery food in a town like this! It was one of the best food experiences I have had so far. Being purely vegetarian makes me quite fussy but being semi vegan and gluten intolerant makes it nigh on impossible to find a decent meal. Challenge accepted here and managed successfully!!

What a great place! Turned up at 10am and had the vegan breakfast which kept me going all day. The staff are lovely and the food is delicious. Cannot recommend enough and will go again next time I am in the Lakes.

Superb eatery. Pushing the vegan agenda and indeed making it possible for almost all dishes to be served as 100% vegan. The staff are excellent, combining professionalism with friendliness. The food is top notch, all fresh ingredients. Namaste
