The Cross Keys - Jd Wetherspoon

Ordered a small breakfast on the app last time I was in, about 2 months ago; it was so cheap and tasty, absolutely fine for the price, and help yourself to tea/coffee. This time we went on Sunday evening about 8pm (meals served until 11) this bank hol weekend, it seemed pretty quiet considering. We ordered curries on the app and drinks. The curries arrived and the server, I think perhaps the manager?, noticed our drinks had not arrived and promptly brought them to us. The curries were very tasty, the poppadoms were freshly deep fried and crisp (could've done with an extra shake on removing from the oil but hey). We were really happy with the meal; plenty of it and piping hot. Bit disappointed there was no mango chutney left. I had a mini warm brownie after which came with a drizzle of sauce on top and a scoop of vanilla icecream. It was delicious and a good size not to feel too guilty about it. If I had a negative it was the drift of cigarette smoke coming through the front doors and filling the little room at the front we were in every so often.

Popped in for a "large" cooked breakfast with refillable coffee to pass some time on Saturday morning and wasn't it a good choice! Business was steady but I got seated without any problems. My breakfast was brought quickly, nice and hot and was very good. Certainly worth 5/5 with the black pudding that was extra! Staff were very pleasant and helpful. I've not been in for a breakfast for a while but definitely won't be leaving it as long next time! Saturday afternoon in March. Busy as expected and typical of 🥄🥄🥄 The only thing I will say is that the staff were run off their feet both behind the bar and on the tables. There was always a queue for the bar which would suggest to me they could with more staff??? Other than that.... You can't beat their prices! Good ol' 🥄🥄🥄
