What: Malaysian for Dinner

Where: China Town, Birmingham, UK

The Dish: Tea Tarik!! Okay so not a dish but definitely the best drink I have ever had!

Value: £20pp

Food Review: To eat: Prawn Toast, Prawn Balls, Sweet and Sour King Prawn with Egg fried Rice, Fish with Ginger and Spring Onion.

To drink: Tea Tarik

So first to come was the drinks, a couple of Hot Tea Tariks to warm up on a rather cold Friday evening. For those not in the know, Tea Tarik is tea made with sweetened condensed milk. Fresh milk was not used in Malaysia as it was not available so sweetened condensed milk was the healthiest option available.

Whatever the reason, once you've had a taste of this, you will be wondering why it took you so long to try it.

Next the starters, standard East Asia, prawn toast and prawn balls. The prawn toast were better than the prawn balls were both of mediocre standard and seem to have a frozen product standard rather than restaurant standard.

Sober Status: Alcohol is served on site

When I next visit I would have:  Lobster

Halal: No

Internal and External Review:
The interior has been revamped in order to serve more people, but it provides a basic asian style, random furniture layout! Bit confusing, (3 people seated on a large 8 people dining table?! ), and random sections to its layout with no flow.
The exterior is basic and could do with showcasing what is inside a bit more.

Sum up: Food is served quickly, but nothing to write home about

Malaysian Delight has always been my favourite Malaysian restaurant in Birmingham before Malaya Classic opened. In addition to their excellent Malaysian cuisine, their Cantonese dishes are also outstanding, such as the roast meats. Their laksa is delicious too. We had a larger group today, so we ordered several small dishes to share, some of which I hadn't tried before, like the braised platter. It would have been even better if it came with vinegar. Everything else was consistently good, and the service at this restaurant is exceptional - polite and attentive waitstaff. Highly recommended.

“I have visited multiple times, and the food quality is guaranteed. The taste is good, and the portion size is sufficient. I often eat Malaysian-style rice dishes, fried rice, and stir-fried rice noodles. Recently, they have introduced new food items. I highly recommend trying the braised platter—it has an excellent flavor, is well-seasoned, the meat is tender, and it has a rich braised aroma. I haven’t experienced this level of quality in Hong Kong before, and the price is reasonable. Sincerely recommended.”

I visited this restaurant for a take away and it is a brilliant place for a work lunch. This is a cash only restaurant so you need to have that in mind but the food is great. I bought the 3 meats with lunch which had 2 types of pork with duck and some salad. It tasted brilliant and the service was super fast. They also give 10% off for lunch take aways so that's a bonus. Would visit again, actually will be one of my regular visits. Highly recommended!

Tried the restaurant for a late lunch.. 1:Stir Fried Beef Ho Fun (Dry) (Solid 10/10) Great Flavours and good quantity as-well 2: House special Chow mein (Mixed pork, chicken and Prawns (The quantity is good enough for ppl with small stomach) Taste was 3.5/5 3:Prawn Curry with Fried Rice (The Rice wasn’t to my liking ,Slightly Sticky and dry)However the Prawn curry was a solid 10/10. The prices are great aswell(Pocket Friendly) Please note the restaurant takes only cash

We were very pleased with our late afternoon lunch. There is a wide array of meal options which we greatly appreciated. Yet, it was our second Malaysian cuisine experience, hence why it was a bit overwhelming at first. We took our time and we have no regrets whatsoever about our meals. The portions were well-balanced. Staff were speedy and accomodating. We might pop in again, should we be in Birmingham in future.

First time visiting Birmingham and found this Malaysian restaurant and was very excited. Shame there is no proper Malaysian restaurant in Manchester. I ordered curry laksa and it was nice but with extra coconut milk and fish cake it will be extra delicious. Next day I took my work colleague and she loved her beef sizzling Cantonese beef and I ordered a silky egg Ho fun which was nice but I would love it a bit richer with fish cake and fish ball and tender pork like in Malaysia. Overall the meals for two nights were lovely and definitely will go back again to try Nasi Lemak.
