An excellent place to buy wonderfully local produce and to stock up on quality meat and veg. An absolutely top grade cafe serving perfect food and coffee. All only few hundred metres from J34 of6.

Excellent - the produce sold here is fantastic quality, not too expensive and the staff are always so friendly and helpful.
The café upstairs is brilliant too - whether it’s breakfast or lunchtime the food is always superb. The cafe can get very busy and sometimes you need to wait for a table. That being said it’s worth the wait and is understandable when it’s so popular.

Really good quality meat and a fresh fish counter which is second to none. My husband would highlybrecommend the 1878 Kitchen lamb hot pot, to the extent he emailed Pioneer to say how much he enjoyed it

Good outlet for Pioneer with plenty of choice generally, not just meat. It can feel a little claustrophobic as it packs a lot into a small space which then gets even smaller with customers. Still my preferred meat supplier in Carlisle. Quite friendly staff and reasonable price when you take into account the current financial climate.

Stopped here while travelling up the M6 as alternative to motorway services. The cafe is small so may need to wait but we opted for the takeaway downstairs with great selection of tasty meals and also great fresh food supermarket to stock up.

If you've never been to Pioneer, it's well worth a visit. If you like a cooked breakfast this is the place to go. It's great. However cancel your lunch this will do you all day!

The cafe system needs looked at. Reasons: a) one treks up the stairs only to find a huge queue, b) getting seated is far too slow when there are empty tables or tables needing prepared. This side of the service is too slow. The company may not need the extra revenue gained by speeding up the service, however, as a customer the entire experience before being seated is frustrating.

A superb shop with fantastic fresh foods. Staff are always helpful, polite, and friendly. Perfect for party, entertaining, and BBQ shopping. Perfect for hot or cold takeaway lunch. Wonderful cafe located upstairs, accessible lift and toilets. Food sold is available downstairs in the shop.
Doesn't take reservations, but well worth queuing for when it's busy, I've never waited more than 15 minutes myself.
