Tgi Fridays - Croydon

Went with my mum for our birthday lunch. It was a lovely afternoon, the service and food was great. The only thing is, due to supplier issues, ribs were not on the menu. But with a free birthday cake and a fabulous rendition of the TGIF Birthday song by Carla (edited to correct name) and Jahlil, topped off our birthday celebration nicely 😀 would definitely go back

Went here for the first time and can say my experience is very positive! The restaurant itself is pretty cool, it is very American which is great, has movie posters, guitars, basketball and other American things hanged up on the walls, as well as very American music, from country, to rock to Madonna, food was great and very tasty and was drinks, Rio our host was absolutely wonderful I don’t think I’ve ever had such a nice a host before as himself, he definitely deserves massive recognition, he made sure we were happy and that all our orders were correct as well as he had such a welcoming and happy energy as well as being pretty chatty which is always nice, he definitely values his customers!

We had a lovely dinner but nothing else. Both me and my husband felt while the food is delicious, the portions are getting smaller and smaller. After a starter and main course we were still hungry. We booked a table and had to wait 15 mins. Our waitress was okay, she was nice but she wasn’t very knowledgeable. We asked her about some offers and she said ‘yeah kids eat free anyways with a main course’ and then when we ordered dessert we asked if we can get a free dessert with the voucher and she said yes, but we can’t choose any. We picked the dessert and gave her the code. When we asked for the bill, guess what the kids menu was charged. She said, oh I haven’t got the code yet. So we redeem the code and gave her. She comes back and says ‘you can’t use two codes, you have to pay for the kids meal’ which is fine, but we specifically asked 3 times. She assured us we can get it. We wouldn’t have taken the extra dessert if we couldn’t use the code. We told her we already redeemed the code so how can we use it next time and she said ‘you can’t’ she didn’t apologize. I feel it was 100% her fault as she didn’t know. She should have doubled check. I had a red flag warning when the table behind us asked for a rum and coke and she asked if Jack Daniel’s would be good 😳😂

Loved the food and loved the place. Thanks to Amy P. who served us. She was lovely with the kids and had a smile throughout. We availed the ongoing offer where kids eat free and it was well worth the money. TGI food reminds me of my trips to America with huge portions and loaded chips and wings. I only have one recommendation for the franchise, that is, to have more specific vegetarian option sorts of bean burger or veggie burgers and not the vegan meat substitutes.

I've been to this branch many times over the years, and have found that is has declined. Years ago it was much busier and a very good atmosphere - now not so much. On this occasion the service was quite bad - but I do not blame them, they were clearly understaffed, with only a handful running around, so much so that a good portion of the venue was kept empty to make it easier to server select parts. I don't think this is a common issue, though. Food was solid and enjoyable, which is always has been - I've never had a 'bad' bite at TGIs, at worst a luke warm but easily replaced one. Overall I'd give this branch a 4/5, i think the days of 5/5 here are long gone but its not as bad as some make out to be whatsoever. The waitress her served me deserved a healthy tip which she got, she even asked "are you sure?" which proved that fact. Would come again.
