We haven't eaten here for probably 7 or 8 years, when the economy was obviously better. A friendly smile and welcome when we arrived, so like the service the welcome hasn't changed. The free flower to the ladies as they leave have gone and the economic down-turn was evident from the number of empty tables, especially quiet for a Friday night which was surprising. The same appeared to be the case with other restaurants on Bath Road. The service was as good as previous visits as as was the food and the atmosphere, which was nice & relaxed.
There were several families with young children enjoying a relaxed evening meal. We enjoyed our meal and probably won't leave it as long til our next visit. The food was well presented and prepared.
I have always enjoyed my visits to Indus. Friendly staff and very good food. I love the retro look. I have been eating there on and off since the early 1990s and have always been very satisfied with the dining experience. I'm aware of the "guide dog" incident which has been apologised for and I think it's very sad that Indus is being negatively reviewed by people who have probably never even visited it.
We went to Indus last night which has a great quirky decor and lovely food and service. It’s a shame it seems to have been hit by the recent controversy over the manager refusing entry to a customer with a guide dog. The manager has since written a sincere apology and admitted that he didn’t know the rules regarding dogs being allowed in restaurants. He’s held his hands up and sent a reply to every person who voiced their opinion about it. I hope the restaurant can continue to succeed as it’s always been one of Cheltenham’s favourites.
