Golden Fry Fish & Chips

Nice food, piping hot, waiter was very polite, friendly and helpful. Staff were polite and upstairs restaurant was nice and quiet, salt, vinegar, sauces at the table and very clean to with no mess at all, I enjoyed it. Just needs modernising a bit and more clearer menu with prices and more options/specials ect otherwise it is great and I enjoyed a quite meal with my partner, you should try it at least . The curry sauce is amazing and to me it was traditional fish and chip shop, I had fish and chips with curry sauce and my partner had spam and chips with curry sauce, we shared, no complaints at all, piping and fresh, chips were bit small portion but just right amount.. Don't let the bad reviews put you off, the food is good. I gave 4 star as it really needs modernising with specials/deals and options more clearer..

The golden fry is my go-to fish and chip shop in the Hull city centre. The service has always been very quick. The staff are nice and friendly and the quality of the fish and chips is excellent. The patties, a dish unique to the hull area are particularly good. There is a really nice seating area upstairs.

I needed a good Fish and Chip Tea before embarking on the 8.30pm P&O Ferry to Zeebrugge. I am a single lady traveller. I've done this Ferry Boat thing before and no way was I paying again for their atrociously overpriced onboard buffets again - such a rip off. So I came here to Goldenfry in the pouring rain on a dismal afternoon in Hull on my train travels from Sheffield before embarking on the Ferryboat - and thankfully found a beacon of light. The reviews did not disappoint. The Fish & Chips were fabulous - Fresh fish in crispy batter, mushy peas and lovely chips. What a shame the little restaurant area upstairs was empty and I sat alone enjoying the food and wonderful service from Harry, for nothing was too much trouble - He was bringing tea/extra scraps and tartar sauce up and down the stairs and very friendly. Thank you so much for making a lovely start to my trip to Amsterdam. I'm actually from Hull originally - but you probably don't know of 'The Gainsborough' in the 70s where our Mum took us for a treat - but it's nice to know there is still a great Fish and Chip restaurant in Hull Centre. Hull people should be queuing up for a table!! Edit - I also noticed a Stairlift, and I forgot to mention how Harry carted my heavy case up the stairs for me x
