Came here after a trip to the cinema as i we were super hungry... walked in got seated in a booth which felt comfortable, great music but few customers. Ordered fish and chips good taste fish was not as what i expected as it wasnt like a fatty fried fish 😅. Took a while for food to arrive but that's okay as the drinks came first anyway.
Overall:
- Clean environment looked spotless
- Friendly staff
- Good music
But overpriced

We dined there tonight about 5.30 and have to say its one of the nicest little places we have been for food.
My partner had the chicken and waffles and said it was gorgeous, the best waffles he's ever had but he would recommend putting the syrup in a pot as he personally doesn't like a lot of syrup on his chicken.
I had the steak and ale pie and omg it is THE best steak and ale pie I have ever had. So light and succulent. I would say you definitely don't need two of the individual pies as q portion, one is more than enough. And the chips are so delicious! We ended up boxing the second pie and some of the left over chicken up to take back with us. All the staff were super lovely and helpful too.
Such a fab place to eat, wish there was one more local to Wigan to visit once we get back home.

First visit but will be back. Great starter of Seafood Basket followed by superb Steak and IPA pie all washed down with couple pints of Neck oil.

Loved my experience here at George's. Ordered a mint choc chip milkshake which was delicious and then ordered a double cheese burger that only took 5 minutes to arrive! Also the staff are very helpful and friendly. Would recommend to anyone and will definitely be coming again if in the area.

Went here for dinner the other night. It was busy as it was the light night parade.
Service was a bit slow, our drinks arrived after our starter which wasn't great. Ordered the squid rings to start, they were nice.
For mains I ordered the fish burger and stilton chips with mushy peas and my partner ordered the paprika cod. Burger was nice, but as soon as you bit into it it fell apart. Even when I cut into it with a knife and fork it was a disaster and honestly a bit embarrassing to eat. I can't recommend the stilton chips, as they have a tiny sprinkle of grated stilton and about 3 tablespoons of something like mayonnaise which was a disappointment. Partner enjoyed his paprika cod.
For drinks we got aperol and espresso martini twice, first round was perfect second not as good, the cocktails are a bit overpriced.
All in all it was a good experience, and I'd come back. I don't know if someone overheard me grumble about the stilton chips or it was an accident but it was missed off the bill. Last note, my burger came on a wooden board, please stop serving food on wooden boards and give me a plate!

Fantastic food, one of the nicest meals I've had for years. Just simple food incredibly well done. Atmosphere was really cosy for such a large place. Prices were ok, but the lunchtime set menu was brilliant value. Wish there was more than 4 of these in the country!

Cocktails that we tried were all nice, I like the screwball one which was only a fiver. Starter was really nice, the goats cheese parcels, my main wasn't anything special, the chickpea and spinach burger. Although my friends liked their main courses. I would go back but maybe wait till they changed their menu for some nicer veggie options.

Amazing food and lovely staff who remembered it was my son's birthday when I made a casual remark when booking the table.. very reasonable prices and left with my belly filled to the brim with delicious food. Highly recommended!

Great atmosphere, really sweet seaside themed interiors, lovely attentive staff. Also a great restaurant to introduce friends, family tourists to British food.

Great food. The onion bhaji battered cod was amazing! The interior design was very nice with little beach hut type things you can sit in. Wonderful cocktail menu and quite a few gins. The cappuccino tasted better than what it looked. And although we didn't have dessert the menu sounded very nice I'm not sure I could've chosen just one. The main menu however didn't have very much choice especially for vegetarians.
