Just wanted to leave a review to let others know what a wonderful place this is.Went for a carvery today and it was amazing, lots of choice, cooked to perfection, I couldn't fault it. I would highly recommend it .

Had our Christmas do here last night. Fantastic atmosphere and amazing food. Catalogues are a fab band to dance to. We booked as the dates came out and have looked forwards to it all year. Thanks to Liz, Kate and the team at the pumping station. A reasonably priced Xmas do which is far better than one we went to 2 years ago that cost twice as much. !!! Get down there and have fun.

I felt a need to add a review, and it has definitely changed my way in thinking ... I most certainly always will now when I feel a review is well deserved ... either the negative comments from others below have the wrong restaurant as the findings were polar opposite or they are keyboard warriors with nothing better to do as it is no where near close to anything you will read that has negative feedback, As soon as you enter the building you can sense the warm friendly atmosphere, it’s a family run business and not a chain which makes all the difference and the service and passion is evident in every part of the service, the building is stunning! Yes there are areas that need updating but wow what an amazing structure and surroundings, then I move on to the carvery ... it’s bloody delicious!!! The veg is cooked to perfection, far from hard and crunchy, it’s soooo tasty and was soon cleared by my fussy 8 year old! He loved it! There are 4 choices of meat ... again beautifully cooked and the roast potatoes were more’ish!!! Cauliflower cheese... I wanted more but couldn’t fit anymore in 😂😂 The food was lovely and hot and I know this is a difficult feat when it’s served from a carvery from experience especially when so busy... it’s super clean and topped up constantly ... the staff were so on ball and nothing was too much trouble ... reading other reviews ???well don’t! This definitely is one of my favourite places to eat and will be back on a Friday to listen to the live music ... we’ll done guys .. a beautiful building and excellent service ...

First time for Sunday lunch carvery but not sure we would go again. Ran out of all veg and Yorkshire puddings so my dinner consisted of dog ends of meat roast potatoes and mash. The server doing the meat needs to go on a food hygiene course as my turkey was put on the same board and cut as rare beef. Same knife used. Not good. Place is amazing but something needs to change with the Sunday lunches.

Visited for a Sunday meal with family. We were a little cautious knowing a new in house chef was now in place. Have to say we were all blown away! Despite booking the last sitting all meats and vegetables were still available and fresh. I had the beef and pork, both were perfectly seasoned, the spices used on the pork made it extra special. The roasts were amazing, crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle, clearly made that day. Have to say the roasts we experienced with the last chef were underdone and felt rushed. All the veg was perfect, still had a crunch and despite the time, not stewed to death. The cauliflower cheese was something else with the addition of what I think was smoked paprika to the cheese sauce, lovely. Everyone loved the home made desserts, all served in rustic bowls with choice of ice cream or custard, served separately and not smothering your dessert. The fantastic food, atmosphere, attentive staff, and probably the largest choice of high quality gins I've seen to date made for a lovely afternoon get together. We'll definitely be coming back and if you've not tried the new carvery you're missing out! Well done guys and thank you!

We were here for a celebration wedding anniversary, and as guests I suppose we expected more from the place after we had heard such hype about it. The meal was a buffet, I dont think they got th numbers right, some items were lacking, The drinks were very expensive, the acclaimed Gin Bar was very expensive. Would I visit again, I doubt it.

I've seen reviews regarding the potholes and car park etc don't let that put you off! All the staff were friendly, warm and welcoming. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very chilled and laid back, and plenty of space to let our 2 year roam when she got bored. I've never gave my compliments to a chef before, but we felt obliged to. The carvery was second to the none and the best we've ever had. A large selection of meats and veg. Braised red cabbage, peas with bacon lardons and the best cauliflower cheese you will ever taste! The chefs new and certainly has a passion for what he does, it really was amazing and at a good price. I would highly recommend it to anyone, we will be visiting again in the near future.

What a superb setting, even in the rain!! Beautiful inside, with a friendly & relaxing vibe. The lovely staff are very helpful and chatty. The food....one word....outstanding!! Simple made brilliant. Who knew gluten free sticky toffee pudding could taste SO good. Much respect to all involved, I'll definitely be visiting again.

Recently visited The Pumping Station for Sunday dinner. I took my grandma & Grandad who can be quite fussy. They absolutely loved the building & the setting, we were welcomed with a friendly smile & made to feel very relaxed, after 2 bottles of wine even more so. The food was not complicated but cooked beautifully, fresh ingredients & a small menu usually means good things & we were not disappointed. The Turkey has obviously been cooked over night slowly & was some of the nicest I’d ever eaten. Will definitely be back!

I have been to the pumping station a few times now and it just gets better and better! Although a little outdated the museum is very interesting with a range of different sections to explore. Its fun for everyone and a really good day out! (Is also right next door to the space museum so might as well visit while you're there)

Lovely setting. Good wholesome Sunday roast generous portions. Staff friendly. Bit odd squeezing into restaurant past serving area but is this temporary as work still obviously going on there. Would be wonderful venue for weddings as grounds very attractive. Will return and have recommended to friends.
