Craving something sweet but have a gluten or dairy intolerance? Or maybe you're vegan? Look no further, for Goldenrod is here to deliver some of the best pastries I've ever tasted, and somehow still keeping most of them completely gluten and dairy free! The shop is super cute, the staff is really nice and you can try anything in their pasty case and fall in love with it instantly. I definitely recommend any of the cookie sandwiches which are a hit with everyone from my grandma to my four-year-old niece. This pastry shop is definitely worth a stop.

Goldenrod made my daughter’s first birthday cake, and it was so delicious. I sent them three different pictures on what I wanted the cake to look like, and they found the perfect combination. It was delicious, moist, and the frosting was unbelievable! The best part was how friendly the staff was and how easy it was to communicate with them.

My wife and I went here for the first time last weekend. I got the strawberry lemonade cookie and she got the pink champagne cake. The cookies themselves were flavorless. The texture was fine I guess, but absolutely zero flavor and near zero sweetness. Very disappointing there. The filling was pretty good at least. The cake was kind of gritty, dry, and not nearly as flavorful as we had hoped. Not terrible, but definitely not worth buying again. I'm not familiar with how difficult gluten free baking is, and am being transparent by saying I'm comparing to what I would expect from a normal baked good. Perhaps this style of baking is much harder? In any case, I'm in no rush to return, which is a shame because it has so many great reviews. Perhaps I got a bad batch?

It really pains me to say this because I've always loved Goldenrod. The first time I went was in 2016. I ordered a slice of pumpkin cake and it was amazing. So dense, flavorful and moist. The only thing I didn't like was how unfriendly most of the staff was, like I wasn't cool enough to be there or something. The last three times I visited, the cakes were dry and mostly flavorless. I had a really good cheesecake, but the chocolate torte was so dry and had no sweetness at all. It just tasted like a lot of cocoa powder and no sugar. But the girls working that day were friendly, which was a really nice change. Several months ago, I went in and ordered a slice of white confetti cake. It was also totally dry. I'm wondering if the refrigeration is drying stuff out? I worked in a bakery that served terrible gluten free options, always dry and flavorless. So when I went to Goldenrod the first time I was so thrilled to find a legit bakery. I have no food allergies, I just loved the taste and quality. I might try going back one more time but honestly I feel like the quality has gone downhill the last 2 years. Also, the days of operation change so much, which is fine. But sometimes it's unclear if they are open or not on Sundays and Mondays. I have messaged and left comments on their instagram account and never get a reply. I'm very sad because it used to be my favorite bakery.

So good!!! We love the macaroon’s here and the other pastries are just as amazing. We love to make a stop after the farmer’s markets on sunday. The expansion is SO cool we love the kitchen shop and the things they sell there are so interesting and different we love it!! Can’t wait to come back and shop some more. We love how accommodating they are for different food allergies and preferences. Will be getting our cakes from here from now on.
