Excellent bakery. Great coffee. Not too busy, just enough seats for the customers. Pleasant atmosphere, great decor, visibly active bakers. The staff's attitude is excellent, and friendly. Start the day the right way with exceptional croissants or pastries. Also fabulous coffee and artisan sandwiches. But get there early as when it's gone it's gone. 👍.
Not sure if you’d call this place a hidden gem because it was quite busy but this is bakery heaven. I felt like I was abroad when I was here. Upon entering you are greeted by a large open kitchen seeing the bakers at work. In front of the kitchen they have a selection of freshly made sweet pastry’s and then around the corner nearer the till you have the savoury options. Despite them having limited stock when I visited, I quite liked it because it showed that everything was being made fresh and that once it’s ready it’s being served to customers. No stale food here, it’s a moving system. If they don’t have what your after just wait and you’ll soon be able to put your mouth around something scrumptious. We couldn’t believe how massive the croissants were. They were pure beasts!! We got a white chocolate and a milk chocolate one. I also got an almond plait and a spinach and feta pastry roll. I couldn’t resist and had to get the velvet hot chocolate as well. The croissants were very springy and tasty. The fillings were lovely. The milk chocolate was even nicer because they were just made so were beautifully warm. The spinach and feta pastry was also nice. The hot chocolate was wonderful. Maybe not for someone with not quite a sweet tooth as my wife couldn’t drink all of it. I bloody loved it! Finally the almond plait was fantastic. More on the less sweet side but excellent sugary crisp on the outside, buttery softness in the middle and very tasty almond flavour. Overall, I love this place and so does many others. The only slight negative I could find is that the staff could maybe be a little friendlier. They are obviously busy which is fair but happier staff makes it a significantly more welcoming atmosphere. I also found out that anything they don’t sell they give to charities. Amazing!
I was in the Albert Dock for a meeting and just had to call in here while I had the chance. The staff are lovely and service was fast and efficient. I bought a milk chocolate croissant, blueberry and cream cheese pastry, a mini mushroom pizza and a quiche. I could smell the pastries driving home and couldn't wait to try them all. Oh my days! The quiche was delicious, perfect shortcrust pastry. The pizza, again amazing, lots of flavour and tasty base. The blueberry pastry was so good, you can really taste the quality of the ingredients. My husband had the choc croissant and said it was fantastic. You must try this place, well worth a visit.
