It's a brilliant concept and a must-try in London!
You basically dine in pitch black darkness, a surprise menu, served by visually impaired waiters!
At first a lovely lady introduces the concept, takes your general order (White: Chef's choice of exotic meat and seafood, Green: vegetarian, or Red: white or red meat) and the cocktails, then you leave your belongings and your waiter guides you to your table in the black room.
I had the White menu and my friend had the Red. I couldn't figure out how to use the knife and fork, so I used my hands. It was really good! One "meat" item was amazing... it turned out that I had Kangaroo and Zebra meat! One of them is so amazing, I'll never know which!

Wow what an experience! This is definitely everyone has to do at one point. It seems very daunting going in but it's really interesting. I was really shocked to find out how wrong I was at guessing what I was eating too. Waiters were absolutely fantastic and Roberto made the night!

It's fun, being in pitched black trying to guess what the plates are like in front of you and not to get the food all over your clothes.

An interesting way to have dinner without distraction, it's all about the person in front of you or maybe not in front of you! Who knows? It's too dark.

Went for meat menu and got a little surprise at the end. Would recommend 2 courses meal as dessert was disappointing. We paid 83 each incl. service for 2 Vinos, 1 cocktails, 3 courses meal. Recommend for dates when it's still early door so you can do whatever face expression you want without being judged! ;p

Definitely one more time!. We have visited the restaurant this summer. I have heard a lot about it from my friend, who had visited the one in Paris, so I and my fiancé booked the table in Dans le Noir in advance. I was worrying that it would be weird and I won't be able to manage my feelings and my senses in the dark; I was really afraid that I will be lost in the dark, though it can sound funny. My fiancé tried to calm me and to assure me that everything will be fine.
But once we entered the restaurant, and we were welcomed by the staff, all my trials were gone as if by magic. I wasn't afraid any more. Personal was so nice to us, they asked about some special wishes in the food, or some prohibitions. I have chosen fish menu and my fiancé meat. We were introduced to the waitress, Sarah. She was nice and it really hurt me that she is blind. Once we were in the dark room, I realized that I couldn't see a thing, and it was shocking, but really great.
We were having a wonderful conversation and laughing at each other on the way we were eating. The food was delicious, and it was difficult to identify for us what exactly we are eating. We made some assumptions, but as it appeared to be later, they were totally wrongJ Our waitress, Sarah, was very attentive, she was like a magician: once you have a thought that you need her help, she is here!
We also took a bottle of wine, and the wine was amazing! Tasting it in the pitch darkness was so unusual and it made me to love wine (earlier, I did not appreciate wine very much)! We left the dark room in about 2 hours, and it was difficult for my eyes to get used to the light.
I can say that it is the most unique experience I've ever had. And my fiancé agrees with me! If you are looking for something new, for something that won't leave you indifferent, I totally recommend you to visit Dans le Noir. I can definitely say that I will look forward for visiting it one more time!

Very Interesting Experience. I wouldn't go there twice (only if to take a friend visiting London) but definitely it is a MUST DO as experience. I was expecting my eyes to get used to it after a while.. but no.. you REALLY can't see anything. The food was great, and wine was good. The funniest thing is that because you can't see how far your friends are, everybody speak very loudly, and you end up participating on others people conversations. And because no one can see who is saying what, everyone feels free to comment, make jokes, etc... it was hilarious.

In a sudden fit of bravery we decided to take our wonderful Client out for an adventurous dinner. She is based in the States so we rarely get to see each other face to face. This will now seem like a non-sequitor... So we took her to Dans le Noir in Farri

There are only a few places in Europe where you can find a place to do this. Fortunately for us folks in London, you can experience this at Dan le Noir. No I'm not pulling your leg, this is a genuine restaurant and a very re

If you haven’t watched the film ‘About Time‘ then, first things first, you need to, and secondly you may not have heard about the restaurant Dans Le Noir or know the concept. The concept is a simple one; especially when you know that “Dans Le Noir” translates from French into “in the dark”.

That’s tells you pretty much everything about the restaurant. However, there are a few extra things worth knowing about this restaurant: the waiters are all blind and you don’t get to pick what you eat. This may not be for everyone as I realised when I mentioned what I’d got up to to friends and work colleagues and was met with the reply: “eurgh, I hate eating in the dark”. But then again, how many times have they actually eaten in the dark? How do they know whether they’d enjoy it? There’s only one way to find out, surely?

Arriving at Dans Le Noir you’ll be greeted by the maître d’ and can enjoy sitting in the light bar area before plunging into the darkness of the dining space. You can’t take any source of light into the dining area; no light up watches, no phones: it’s cheating if you do really.

Dans le noir, a concept restaurant brought over from Paris, dining in the dark. The emphasis is on the food, theory being dull the other senses and allow the brain to focus on the taste. I believe this an interesting concept but for me it does not do the restaurant justice. The beauty of the restaurant is experiencing blindness, I mean you really can't see a thing, waving my hand in front of my face like a mad man for the whole meal I was glad no one could see, then the waitress - sorry Max were you waving to me?

Let me introduce Winnie, one of the incredible waitresses that day. She like the other servers here is blind, upon entering the restaurant Winnie asked us to place a hand on her should and form a line. She lead us through the darkness, us nervous of our shins and foreheads, with elegance I would never have imagined. We were firmly in her domain, she could see perfectly and we were the blind.

Eerily dark we were sat down, the conversation soon turned from laughter to how big is this room? There was no way of telling. Then the conversation grew to the rest of the table, all strangers, all getting on like a house on fire - there is no pre judgement of each other or whether we're suited as friends. Prejudice is left at the door just a dark infinite box full of voices and the smell of lovely food.

We went for the surprise menu so I wont ruin what was served for you but you are told at the end, confident in my taste buds I mentioned to Winnie I was pretty sure I had it all correct. Barely one dish did i guess everything on the plate, over 6 courses.

It is pricey however it is a great way to experience something new, I would recommend taking someone who is as open to the experience as you may be. You leave humbled by the quality of service and grateful to be handed your eyes back on exit.

Lovely experience, great staff, food is overpriced but still of a decent standard. No photos for this one ;)

I went to Dans le Noir on a date with a girlfriend who I'd been seeing for a few months and had a truly fantastic time. But sure, this was in part due to the the awesomeness and epicness of making out the absolute pitch dark (seriously, it's awesome). The awesomeness and epicness of making out at Dans le Noir is hard to explain. I think it's partially because of the sliightly exhibitionist feel of the macking (because you are surrounded by a lot of people, though of course they can't see you), but also a factor is that the total darkness heightens your senses, meaning that these kisses that I was having, with a girl who was already a great kisser, were even better. God it was good.

It's tough to explain, but seriously, do it.

The restaurant was nice to.

What a fabulously unique experience to dine at Dans Le Noir. The darkness allowed an opportunity to enjoy food in a way I didn’t think possible. Senses like sound, taste and smell felt heightened to compensate. It takes a moment for your eyes to adjust and accept the complete darkness but once embraced, we enjoyed the vegan 3 course meal where we were kept guessing what ingredients were presented in front of us. Overall a recommended experience 💯

Eating in absolute darkness brings a lot of additional stimuli. You can focus on the texture of the food and the smell. Although this one probably isn't intense on purpose. A blind waiter leads you into the room in complete darkness and then serves the table. Talking with friends when you can't see the interlocutor despite their physical presence is a unique experience.

Such an amazing experience and the food was so delicious. Part of the fun was trying to work out what you were eating. Fabulous, our waiter, was great and made it more enjoyable. Would definitely do again when they rotate the menu.

This is a truly amazing experience. Eating a lovely lunch in total darkness with my partner was a truly special lunch date. As you can not see a thing, you rely on your other senses, taste, touch, and smell. You are served by blind or partially sighted staff. They are truly amazing, very friendly, and put you at ease from the moment you arrive. Speaking to other diners you have never met and unable to see was an unusual experience, but conversation flows freely, especially trying to work out what you are eating and drinking. When you are ready to leave, you are led back to the entrance area to collect your mobile and other devices which could omit light. I obviously have no photos from inside, but on YouTube, you can find specially filmed clips of what awaits. Highly recommend this experience

I recently had the most incredible experience at this establishment. From the moment you walk into the bar, the staff goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome and comfortable. The highlight of the evening was being escorted to the dining room, which was completely pitch black. This unique setting allowed me to fully rely on my taste, smell, and touch to savour the exquisite flavours of each dish. Beyond the extraordinary sensory experience, dining in darkness was also a truly sociable event. Interacting with fellow diners and engaging in conversations without the visual distractions created a sense of connection and camaraderie. I cannot recommend this experience enough. It is truly an extraordinary adventure for the senses that I encourage everyone to try at least once.

My daughter arranged the entire evening and so I was a passenger, never having heard of the concept. From start to finish, dinner at Dans le Noir was an intriguing and memorable experience. I had the two course fish and meat with the surprise wine. Shelly had the vegan. Both sets were very good. At the end of the evening, all is revealed, and it’s astonishing how close and how far our guesses were. The experience of dining in pure pitch black is intense. We were the first guests in the room but it soon filled up. Paradoxically, as the noise levels grew I found our conversation became more focused, somehow deeper. I loved it. All of this was hosted by attentive and courteous staff but the star for us was Ghow, who was gracious, knowledgeable and made sure to make each diner had a unique and unforgettable experience. Highly recommended!

Recently we visited a new cafe with friends, and we really liked it! The interior is cozy, the music is pleasant, and the staff is polite and attentive. The menu is quite diverse, and we hardly chose what to order. All the dishes were very tasty, especially the steak and dessert. The prices are quite adequate, considering the quality of food and service. We will definitely come here again and recommend this cafe to others.

I loved this unique experience and would recommend to try it at least once if you can. Our server Aliyah was lovely and we were lucky as we were one of the last people so we had more chance to talk to her and hear her sing. I gave 4 stars to the food because I found it to be really good, but not like blowing my mind, although I do think that even if the food had sucked (which it didn’t), the experience would have been worth it.

What can you experience in here? An unusual place that will let you live the most of a night out. There’s no words of pictures that can express the feelings that will drive you through the night. It can be scary at the beginning as you’ll experience something out of your normal reality but after that… you’ll see!! And you’ll actually see thing but not with your eyes. The food is phenomenal, soo tasty! I would recommend this to everybody. A special thanks to Fabio and the whole staff that bring us around the whole night. Amazing! We’ll be back…with friends!!!

It was an amazing experience. All 5 or us loved it and said we'd go back. Food was great, service was amazing. Could not fault it. And what an insight into how blind people live daily. Charlotte was such a lovely waitress, really helpful. Although the restaurant is busy it is not noisy at all which made it so easy to have a group conversation. Highly recommended.
