Nice little country pub that was well maintained on the river, which is a nice setting. The service was friendly and the menu was nice. The whiting was fresh and crispy, and the scotch egg was warm fluffy. I couldn't fault the pub. However, to spice up my experience, there was a couple high as a kite in the garden outside the pub getting it on, which was the ying to the yang
Granted there were only two members of staff at the bar. I was left for a while before I was seen and then when I was told to just pick any table. No staff told me the procedures to order my food until it was 10 minutes before the kitchen closed. I also wasn't given a menu until I was told about the kitchen closing. Other than that the food was very good and decently priced (for the area).

Always welcoming, really enjoy a beer here and occasionally food too. Great attentive staff, always cheerful and I appreciate how busy it can get! The dog always walks me here first, very dog friendly!
Lovely setting, beautiful inside the pub and especially outside by the canal. Food is great quality and a nice menu with good choice, and good drinks selection too. Dog friendly and love that they're showing the rugby!

Steak was pretty much the best I’ve had in the UK so far (including proper silverware that allow you to cut into meat without a struggle), cooked exactly as a rare steak should be however I would have enjoyed it much more if the kids noise would have been reduced and the background music increased (obviously a parent problem there). Waited for more than 40 minutes for two dishes to come out knowing that the table was to be free within an hour and a half from arrival. Dog friendly pub with nice seating view outdoors towards the canal.
Nice place to sit in the sun and watch the canal. Reasonable selection of beers wines and food.
April 2021 update, excellent covid safety, lovely friendly staff and a great Sunday lunch outside watching the canal meander past.
Great location. Only had a drink and that was lovely, but couldn’t have a coffee as they had no milk when i visited. Great staff, dog friendly, just off the main shopping street. I’d come again.
Great lunch time venue, food and beer, on a nice day great to sit outside by the water, friendly staff. Keep returning even when the weather is not so good, same great food, beer 🍺 & service. Update July 23, ditto to the above.
