The Lion is a great pub just off the main high street in Newbury. Friendly atmosphere, great choice of drinks, comfortable seating and even a nice covered outdoor area for sunny days or smokers.
The pub staff / owners are all great, as well as the regulars - all friendly and welcoming, and help to make The Lion feel how a pub really should feel.
Tex/Mex food served from the kitchen - order at the bar - all freshly made and very tasty, usually happy to accommodate asks like extra soured cream or salsa.
Often they’ll be showing live sports or live music on occasion, and we can’t recommend enough the pub quiz every Thursday; easily the best quiz in and around Newbury!

Nice pub situated in Newbury. Camra discount available to members, Cask marque certificate and good conditioned cask beer. I tried the vegetarian burrito and it was delicious. I would recommend, you might want to add some sides as the burrito is just the burrito and fillings.

Friendly staff good ambience and nice choice of drinks. I was treated with Mexican burritos and was very authentic. This pub has a nice collection of ales. I received the best vodka martini that was ever tasted by me and made by Mr Kevin although they don't serve any cocktails.

My favourite pub in Newbury. Really welcoming staff, relaxed atmosphere and they put on some great bands too. Stoked that they've started selling food, I had the vegan nachos last night and they were banging.

Always have a blast here! One of the best pubs in Newbury run by the best two gents. The food is also fab. And the Thursday quiz is great fun.
