Only place in town I come back to again and again, staff are incredible so helpful and friendly. Big shoutout to Beth and Kelly who go above and beyond. Love the atmosphere, music and sports on tv!! Regularly come to the old George for drinks and take advantage of their student deals! Highly recommend.

Really lovely. My girlfriend and I were in Newcastle for the day and we were having a blast at this Inn. The barkeeper was a real sweetheart. The food was really great too and the Shamrock on the Guiness' were great and a lovely touch. Would surely return for another bite and a tasteful drink.

Great old pub dating back to the 1500,s! Lovely atmosphere and good range of beers. Some of the old features like Ingle nook fireplaces worth a visit and if you’re a student great beer and food discounted options. Love it. Thanks Kelly for great service!!

We booked the bottomless boozy brunch. Such good value for money and really enjoyable. Beth looked after us and ensured our drinks were topped up! She’s a belter. We thought it was amazing that we could get premium cocktails as part of the brunch offer. Thanks Beth! We’ll be getting booked back in.

We came here for a bottomless brunch on 16 March. It was set up beautifully with some extras to make it fun. The DJ was great fun and made it very interactive. The food and service was brilliant would seriously recommend. Thank you!

Went here for a quick bite when we landed in from Dublin. Got chatting to the GM about the Ireland match that night - said we’d try come down if there was space, without hesitation she offered to reserve two (pretty amazing) tables for us for later that night. When we arrived later on we were greeted by a very warm welcome and were extremely well looked after. There was an amazing atmosphere and very welcoming staff, especially Scott and Ben. They were very helpful and accommodating. Will definitely be back on my next trip over, couldn’t recommend enough!

Lovely pub. We’ve been travelling around and found this pub more comfortable with better food than many. Scott was also great and ensured we were happy. We definitely recommend the 1kg chicken wings and the garlic dough balls (these dishes plus a chips kept two big eaters happy). Pints are a little more expensive than other places we’ve been but don’t let it deter you. It’s currently around 5-5.7 pound for a pint depending on the beer. Edit: came back the next day for pizzas and to try the pizza dough balls. All were fantastic! Particularly recommend the Bombay Chicken pizza. This has become a favourite spot for us.

Came to eat on a Friday lunch. It wasn't too busy. Burger and Pizzas were highly praised by our teenagers and they looked great. Burrito bowl was filling and tasty. Chicken used on the dishes wasn't great but not off putting. Sharing platter was huge and the wings on it were good. Normal prices for pub food nowadays. (Not many places are cheap anymore which is understandable) some great old features still in the pub. Dog friendly. Service was good and manageress was helpful getting us a water bowl dont think they have lots of furry customers.

Absolutely amazing experience from this pub. Would definitely go back. Hidden away is this special gem of a place in Newcastle. The staff are so amazing and friendly, happy to help in any way they can, giving up suggestions and options. The food was delicious and delivered in a quick manner. Their service, the atmosphere and the friendliness are what you hope in a pub but sometimes never truly get. We got that and more. Fantastic experience!!
