Ove Northwest

This is the first review I have written, but this is the first restaurant I have taken the time to setup a Goggle account for and write about. The food here is absolutely amazing! I have eaten in some of the most exclusive restaurants in Asia and the US but this quaint restaurant in Newport, OR was outstanding! We had the Steamers and the Prawns and the bread pudding for dessert. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone driving up the Oregon Coast. I can’t remember the last time I enjoyed every single bite.

Over three days had two dinners and a lunch. Each visit was delightful. The scallops were fabulous, duck with beets, hazel nuts and goat cheese a nice twist on traditional beet salad and the prawns with pork belly very well done. All dishes showed serious thought and preparation and stayed mostly in bounds. The wine list is ample and offers many reasonable options. And the prices are fair. There is no other restaurant in the Newport area that can match the combination of great food, attentive service and pleasant environment of Ove. I will be back.

Terrific food and location. We had two vegetable dishes that were unique and wonderful - a roasted mushroom dish (maitake, I think) that was unbelievably good and a kale salad with pickled grapes (sounds odd but it was superb). The seafood stew was light and delicious. We will definitely return. As an added bonus, the location can't be beat.

Lunch was both stunning and affordable. The prawn, avocado and beet plate with goat cheese was perfectly seasoned and visually stunning. The roasted beets were full of flavor and perfectly complimented the prawns. The location cannot be beat for beautiful views and charming atmosphere. The only issue I had was that during lunch on a weekday several of the patrons around me were quite full of themselves and loud talkers. This is a small space and sound carries easily from table to table. This is a very nice place and the people around me clearly felt very important for being there. I don't fault the restaurant. The tightness of the space and the limited available parking take away from the otherwise great experience.
