Jj Ho Cafe International

Oh man. Where to start? I’ve driven by this place many times. Maybe not an appealing location. The food, though. How many times have I been at a restaurant in Newport and gotten “fresh fish” when I really wanted FRESH FISH. This place has it. I had salmon with mango salsa. Cooked perfectly, seasoned well. Obviously fresh, as the chef promised, and the salsa did not disappoint. The clam chowder was stellar. Tasted home made, not like that fishy gunk certain other “famous” places serve. My daughter had fettuccini alfredo, which was fettuccini drenched in butter and shredded parm and parsley. Really excellent. Usually kid dishes are along the lines of kraft mac n cheese, but this stuff was so good. My husband has been on the hunt for a good rare cooked steak, and the chef here really brought it home. He’s so attentive, and you can tell he has a passion and care for what he serves. Everything about this tiny little restaurant is a pleasant surprise. Small local restaurants are really the way to go. We will definitely be back.

Probably the best food I've ever had! People always ask me where to eat in town and I tell them to go here, My husband and I have tried the seafood lasagna (so delicious!) and roasted lamb. Our service is always friendly & kind and the atmosphere is small and cozy. I wish I could give this place 10 stars!

Incredible food! Had an amazing family dinner here and it was amazing to see the younger children *trying new things* ie lobster, stuffed mushrooms with crab etc. The children said 1 out of 100 they rated it at 10000. Honestly the food is awesome, the prices are fair and Chef Jeremy comes out to ask how the food is and interacts with the table. Newport has a a few choice spots and JJ Ho's definitely is at the top of that list. Thanks chef for the incredible dinner and experience!

I had the lobster ravioli and Pacific salmon. The dish was perfectly cooked and the sauce was amazing. I am very pleased with our overall experience from the food to the restaurants cozy atmosphere. Thank you for making my girlfriend's birthday dinner an amazing one. Gonna be hard to beat next year. We may have to come back. Edit: A couple that I know went to JJ Ho cafe and had a terrible experience. Lobster ravioli was "way to salty" and the clam chowder was "watery". In addition to the chowder being salty they had found a piece of steel wool in the bottom of their bowl. After they made the waitstaff and eventually the chef aware of the steel wool there was not even an apology let alone any complimentary discount. It would have been the least they could do in this situation. I can no longer recommend JJ Ho anymore. I will spare myself the embarrassment. :-(

Have been here twice, and both times, the food and service were excellent! The first time I ordered the calamari steak. It just melts in your mouth! The second time I ordered the chicken marsala. I'm not a big chicken breast fan, but thought I'd try it. I'm glad I did! And their complimentary clam chowder is wonderful! This restaurant is hidden in a strip mall in Newport, but I think if you try it once, you'll go back again.

Amazing! Every dish was incredible! My husband had the salmon and lobster ravioli. The said the salmon was good but the best part were the ravioli. My daughter had steak with mixed pan seared veggies also mouthwatering and juicy. My son, fettuccini alfredo with shrimp. It was more like buttered fettuccini with some alfredo and parmesan. It was amazing too! I had the pork medallions wrapped in pancetta and topped with shrimp along with pan seared veggies. Our entrees came with clam chowder and the table came with nice hot seasoned bread. The chef was great. He has a pretty interesting background and came out to personally serve us at times, ensure that everything was good, and even refilled our water at times. The next time that we are in Newport we will stop by again.
