Delicious full meal. Aside from the nice starters to open with, my main stood out the most. The gnocchi was fluffy and light, paired with melt in your mouth aubergine and a tangy spicy tomato sauce. The other dishes were also perfectly flavored, despite being on the pricier side, the portion sizes really made up for it. Staff were lovely and very friendly to us, and tried to serve us as efficiently as possible even with the busy night. Highly recommended for those who want a fancier night out.

After 5 years living in Oxford, we finally tried no.1 Ship Street, we went for the set lunch menu on a weekday, and we had a great experience. The food was amazing, and tasty, and the service was great. Will definitely be coming here again.

Lovely restaurant! Great starters & mains, top choice the scallops. Unfortunately disappointed with the dessert - pretty standard

Aside from the best food they served, I also want to share that their Customer Service is the best among the restaurant in the area. The entire customer journey was very pleasant because they ensured the request from each of the us were fulfilled.

When ordering, the waiter was probably too stressed from the day and didn’t show much patience to us who want to understand more of the menu. Not friendly to tourist who don’t know much of the ingredients used in fine dining.
After we’ve ordered, the restaurant was too busy for its small number of servers. There was an extremely long lag between the starter and the main course, during which they didn’t provide us with more bread even after our request.
The men’s toilet was skinny and dingy.
The rabbit dish from the main was absolutely delicious and beautifully arranged. It’s a wheel of rabbit meat in the outer ring and a center circle of soft potato mixture. The exterior rabbit skin was crispy and delicious. The chard and mushroom perfectly cut the oiliness from the rabbit and the potatoes. Masterfully balanced.
The same can’t be said of the two- and three-course. The appetizers are brilliant but the main courses are a farse. Eating the pork snitzel is like chewing rubber and the pork was topped with a measly 5 green beans to cut the oiliness. The other main course is a salad with three nubs of mozzarella, little no substance for a tired and hungry traveler.

We went for a 3 course lunch menu: watercress soup, risotto and Eton mess. The soup was definitely the highlight of the afternoon with balanced favours. One thing to note is that all three meals were way too heavy to eat together. The portions were very generous and probably slightly too big for a 3 course menu. The service was super quick. Would still recommend!

Had a great night celebrating a birthday. Really busy, so book in advance, but the service was still superb.

We had such a lovely evening at No1 Ship Street. Food, atmosphere, staff, cocktails all wonderful. We had oysters to start followed by a Surf and Turf that was absolutely brilliant. Can’t wait to come back soon!

Exquisite food, atmosphere and service. The food can be pricey, so the lunchtime menu trims the costs down quite a bit. My only criticism would be that the lunchtime menu is small, but other than that everything else was brilliant.

What a lovely place to eat and drink. We were taken by our nephew and his fiancé for a wonderful lunch. The food was beautifully fresh and prepared as was the service. The wine, expertly chosen by our nephew was a delight. Thank you so much. Very happy to recommend this lovely place.

This is a very nice restaurant in Oxford. I had Mussels and they were very fresh. The lamb shoulder was moist and delicious, a great combo with cockles. The cocktails were good, service was very good and great coffee. Everything was delicious, only disappointment was a limited desert menu and chocolate truffles were not very nice. But everything else really delicious and we would definitely visit again

Fish soup £10 - Good
Langoustine bisque £5 - Excellent. Cognac flavor peeks through.
Bream fish £26 - Great. Moist and flavorful with natural oils in the fish
Duck £26 - Good
Rainbow chantenay carrots £5 - Average
Wild mushrooms £9 - Average, though the polenta and breaded egg yolk were interesting.
Chocolate dome £9 - Dome was average. The hazelnut biscuit and candied orange peel were nice

Everything about this place is just great. From the bar staff to the waiting staff, everyone is friendly and welcoming. The food is INCREDIBLE, and perfect portions too. The atmosphere was buzzing but we were all still able to have a conversation, and the decor was beautiful. I would absolutely recommend No. 1 Ship Street, and will definitely be visiting again.

Heard good things about this new independent restaurant in Oxford, so my wife and I booked for dinner for a long overdue "date night" - we duly arrived and popped upstairs for pre-dinner cocktails, a bloody Mary and rather excellent "blood orange margarita", looked after by the highly personable Mark, who was knowledgeable, friendly and very persuasive! We came with the intention of having oysters, and the dozen Morecambe bay oysters did not touch the sides, with a squeeze of lemon here, some shallot vinaigrette there, then followed ( on Mark's recommendation) with the sublime fish platter for two... a lovely evening and one which we intend to repeat again soon....

Went for valentines day and had the seafood sharing platter upstairs. It was brilliant! Lots of delicious food, nice wine and champagne and excellent. Also the pornstar parfait dessert is amazing! Thanks for a special evening

Had a great family meal here on Sunday 20th Aug. My 3 year old was beautifully accommodated much beyond our expectations. We had the Sunday lunch menu which was amazing and very reasonable given the standard and amount of food. We had all 3 courses and none disappointed! We would highly recommend No1. Ship Street. The staff were knowledgeable and very friendly. I particularly admired how the upstairs and downstairs spaces felt completely different both offering a very cool, atmospheric experience. Well done guys, I know this restaurant is new to Oxford and it certainly feels like they got it right. We will definitely be returning.

We popped in for lunch not really knowing what to expect and we were very pleasently surprised. This place is fantastic food was great, we had the lunchtime special which really was great value for money. The staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The wine list was exciting, sadly we could only have a couple of glasses. We were visiting Oxford from Norwich and will certainly pop in when we next visit Ixford

Recently opened (20 July) so we experienced their first Sunday lunchtime. A great find - lovely ambience, friendly, attentive staff, delicious food and small but creative wine list. Hope it does really well.

Excellent food, friendly & knowledgeable staff, Stylish decor, great wines and a gin club. What more could you want! Had a great meal today on the ground floor and will definitely be back to sample the 1st floor soon. Thanks No. 1 Ship Street, just what Oxford needed.
