We had an excellent Sunday roast at the Middleton Arms today, food was spot on and service so friendly! So glad we decided to try it on our way to Pickering, would highly recommend for tasty homemade grub with a warm welcome :) Will definitely visit again when we're next in the area!
The host (landlord) is a character and adds to the atmosphere. Good beer, good food, and good music. I've paid more elsewhere for far worse food. Booking is recommended but not essential. Be prepared to wait if you've not booked. We didn't have any dietary requirements, but it was apparent from overhearing other customers ordering that nothing was a problem, whether it was allergies/intolerances or veganism/ vegetarianism.
Lovely little gem of a place . Food outstanding . The landlord / manager is a lovely jolly chap . Makes a right happy atmosphere he brings the sunshine indoors .

Was a Sunday lunch "walk in" and was lucky enough to get a place, others behind me were, unfortunately, turned away.
Food was excellent as was the service.
If I'm ever up that way again I'll definitely pop in, but this time I'll plan it and book!
Limited car parking available at rear but it is a small pub, due to the age and size of the building it is not wheelchair friendly but I used my crutches anyway so no problem there.
What a little gem!! Storm Babet hit the east Coast in Yorkshire, power went off, and our hotel wasn't doing food, so we fell onto the Middleton, a great place. A fantastic host, homely food and we will definitely return.
You don’t get many pubs like this any more and I’m so glad we visited. Hearty delicious pub grub made by the lovely Wendy and good beer and banter served up by the friendly landlord. All by a log fire in a warm atmosphere of locals and visitors. Highly recommend, especially the steak pie which is the best I’ve had in a while.
We've just returned from a holiday stay in Middleton, a 2 minute walk down the lane to this delightful pub. We have been before a couple of years ago, it was good then and its just as good now. Great food and wonderful ale, wine too, very welcoming, great atmosphere, our little dog Betty loved the fuss and a treat.
Have I mentioned the food? Thank you Wendy you're a wonderful cook. Thank you Andy for being so nice and again to every member of staff, thank you. See you next time.

As soon as we walked in we could feel the friendly atmosphere, the staff were very pleasant and quick to see us to our table, the landlord was a comedian and had us all laughing all night,the food was great and overall a fantastic evening. Would definitely go back.
Popped in for an evening meal. Brilliant and very welcoming staff. Food was absolutely fantastic, lovely and freshly cooked. Service was great. Next time we are holidaying in Yorkshire we will be coming back to eat here. Highly recommended
