El Greco

I live in Toronto and have eaten at many Greek restaurants there, but il greco was impressive to say the least. The flavours were perfectly put together (chicken souvlaki, lamb, Greek salad even the pita bread was delicious) recommended wine to have there is Makedonakis sooooo delicious. Service was excellent no complaints at all. Atmosphere was perfect too. This experience was so good I went back the next day and still wasn’t disappointed. There is something to be said about family owned and operated restaurants.

Fantastic restaurant and thoroughly recommend a visit. You feel like you are actually in Greece enjoying the sunshine and the great food. All the team are really friendly and you certainly get that ‘family restaurant’ atmosphere that you’ll remember from sun soaked relaxing holidays in the Greek islands. The food is superb and our party of five had different mains which we all thoroughly enjoyed. We couldn’t decide on started so Kristo made some recommendations and they were varied and also enjoyed by all. Fab was a great waitress and was very attentive. Can’t wait to go back again very soon. You won’t regret going and enjoying some real Greek sunshine at this family run restaurant.

Been wanting to try this for a while. Think I may have gone in with very high expectations due to hearing all the hype about El Greco. The food was very tasty yes, but it wasn't one of those "omg I need to visit again" tastes. The service was very slow, but that was because only 1 person was serving tables when I went. Also abit more pricey than the usual. Would I visit again if I'm craving Greek food? I don't think I would. But it was a nice experience.

An authentic and well balanced moussaka (the meat, potato, aubergine and creamy and airy bechamel in complimentary proportions): fifteen quid! Bargain. One of the best I've had in the UK, or anywhere for that matter. A large glass of dry greek red, £9. Walnut sponge and ice-cream, £7. And a greek coffee made from the silt at the bottom of a mountain pond. Just the way it should be. All book ended by a host as home made and authentic as his dishes.

I had an absolutely delightful experience at El Greco, a charming Greek restaurant nestled in Southsea. The staff was incredibly friendly, making us feel right at home from the moment we stepped in. The menu boasted a lovely selection of authentic Greek dishes that truly transported us to the Mediterranean. One thing that caught my eye was their open-planned kitchen, where we could watch the skilled chefs work their magic, adding an extra touch of excitement to our meal. And speaking of meals, the dishes were not only tasty but also offered great value for money. The restaurant was bustling with customers, which is a testament to its popularity, so I would highly recommend making a reservation beforehand. Overall, my companions and I were thoroughly impressed, and without a doubt, we’ll be returning to El Greco for another delightful culinary journey.

Went for the first time last Thursday night and was blown away by the experience. The ambience is delightful - a carefully thought-out space that balances a good atmosphere with privacy - the service was attentive and efficient, but the FOOD! I have eaten Greek cuisine before , and in Portsmouth, but this was not only authentic, but sophisticated and simply delicious. We started with zucchini bites and calamari that were light, fresh and falvoursome, but the mains (pictured) were sensational! My favourite was the shrimp pasta that had a tomato sauce that was rich and not the slightest bit tart. The ultimate testimony is the fact that, within two days, we have made plans to go back with friends and I am very much looking forward to it.

Absolutely wonderful experience! After seeing it was my birthday we were moved into a window table, we got greated by a very attentive waitress who couldn't do more for you. She made a recommendation for a meal as I couldn't decide as everything soumded lovely and my goodness im glad I went with it. Couldn't fault the food, drinks or service. Very authentic ambiance and food! Would definitely recommend. Thank you for making my birthday meal so special! Will definitely be back!!

Amazing ! We are regular visitors to Greece and love home cooked greek food and this place didn’t disappoint . Great atmosphere and music - it was busy . Staff so friendly and attentive , we couldn’t fault the service despite restaurant being full . We had tsatiki, Greek salad , Mykonos dip and feta with honey . For mains we had chicken gyros ( wow - so much meat ), lamb kleftiko which was beautiful and chicken slouvaki. Baklava for pudding - gorgeous . So please we tried it - we will definitely return very soon and hope it will become a regular place for us . Great to have a non chain restaurant in town .
