We had just arrived in Scarborough for a mid week break and couldn't get in to our apartment at the time so we decided to go for a pint! We couldn't have found a more welcoming pub, the staff are wonderful so friendly, we were made to feel at home! We decided to have a meal as food is served from 4pm - 8pm and again it was superb, I had the Chicken Satay, with rice, peanut sauce & water melon salsa, the chicken was moist & the salsa took the edge off the spicy satay sauce, delicious! My husband had the mixed grill, wow that was a plate full! A large steak (cooked too perfection) a large gammon steak, mushrooms, onion rings, cherry toms cooked on the vine, & as they hadn't any black pudding, a chicken breast plus of course homemade chips! Then for desert I just had to have the Strawberry Eton Mess, yummy 😋 We are going back again that's for sure!!
We have eaten at the scarborough arms for 2 nights in a row. On the first night my son was wanting lasagna however this was only available on the adult menu. I asked if there was anyway they could do a child's portion of this bur this was not possible however the chef halved a adult portion so me and my son could have this and they only charged for 2 child's meals. My partner had he chicken curry and he loved it. Last night I had the scampi my partner had the gammon and my son had the chicken nuggets. I do have to say the chips was better on the first night compared to last night (they was crispier on the first night and we heard others say the same). We was a little upset that the only person to acknowledge that they recognised us was the young lady who brings the food to you and one of the ladies behind the bar did jot day anything when she will have known put faces this is why along with the chips the score is a 4 & not a 5. All being said we will definitely recommend
UPDATED;
Came tonight at the request of our son after it being too busy last night and it was spot on. They did a smaller portion of smetjig from the adult menu as it was what he really wanted and nothing was too much trouble hence the rating being changed up to a 5
Well I have to say, I read all the favourable reviews and thought we should give this pub a try for our evening meal as it's only an 11min walk from the Premier Inn. Anyway after Google maps took us half a mile in the wrong direction we made our way back to here.
I have to say the reviews were not wrong a brilliant little kind of 'Local' pub, great atmosphere, cosy and really great food, next time your in Scarborough, check it out!!
An absolutely must when in Scarborough. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. The food is excellent, and the owners are extremely welcoming and interested. The whole atmosphere is unique for the Boro. Thanks so much from your German 'regulars', Christina and Gunter Strähle.
Amazing pub / restaurant in Scarborough, very dog friendly, fantastic food, ended up eating here 2 nights in a row because the food was that good, can't recommend this place enough, such a lovely atmosphere, and very reasonably priced, situated close to the Castle & old town. Fantastic service.
Absolutely fantastic meal. I can not say enough positive things about this place, from the food, to the service, to the atmosphere, to the price all five star. Four of us have had gorgeous Sunday lunch, pie, potatoes, vegetable and all the trimmings. All the food was cooked perfectly, it was tasty, hot and good portion size. Four of us had a main course, two puddings and four rounds of drinks total cost £130. This is the best meal we've had all weekend. I would definitely recommend booking a table and eating in this pub.
Lovely Sunday lunch maybe another couple of slices of meat would be preferable for me it was fine but no where near enough for the men. Very tasty though and would recommend the beef roast.
A fantastic and very DOG FRIENDLY pub! We visited on a Saturday evening (had booked with a friendly member of staff the day before after easing good reviews) as a party of 4 adults and 2 dogs. There’s a large dog friendly room, the menu has a good choice of pub food, all homemade, and the fish & chips, curry, pie and chilli were all delicious. Wide choice of drinks and really helpful staff. The owner, Derek, came over to chat and was so welcoming and grateful for supporting this local business. This is now our favourite pub in Scarborough and we plan to be back soon!
Visited for Sunday lunch, which didn’t disappoint. Not only is there gravy on the plate with meats, Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes, but you then get a jug of gravy, side dish of three vegetables (which were cooked perfect and were very tasty) and some garlic butter new potatoes. Such good value for money and the service was great. We booked in advance but there were some free tables when we arrived, but it was busy so I’d recommend booking. Great choice of wines and beer/lager at the bar.
Lovely food and a nice bar lady / Staff..... Beautiful inside.....I recommend this public house...../ Pub and Pub Grub / Food..... definitely going back for more.... Sound 👍😎✌️.
On holiday.... Scarborough Arms was recommended in our guest book so thought we'd try it out.
Food was excellent, we had the Sunday roast, it came with all the trimmings.
Highly recommend.
