I will 100% be visiting this pub again! just had a lovely lunch with the family, it's a lovely family friendly pub with friendly staff. So if you are looking for a pub that offers great value a family atmosphere then this is the place to go. The views are breath taking and it's a great place to take the dogs!!
Visited twice this week having never been before - once for lunch and once for dinner. Sat outside on both occasions and the view is fabulous. The lunchtime specials menu was great - two for £10. I had the chicken club which was seriously delicious - lovely thick bread with chicken fillet and bacon. Service was fast and very friendly. The dinner experience was a little different as they were super busy so the wait for food was about an hour but they advised us of this on arrival. I had steak and chips and it was cooked to perfection, exactly as I’d asked for it. I will definitely be visiting again. The staff were all friendly and helpful, great experience, thank you Three Merry Lads!
We ended up here because our preferred jaunt, the Sportsman, was closed on Monday lunchtime.
The pub benefits from friendly staff though they did feel somewhat impatient as we dawdled over an impressively wide selection of food.
They had one local beer on tap and several indie ciders to choose from, as well as an impressive selection of cordials to try.
Although there was a wide ranging food menu, there were surprisingly few vegetarian options and none at all in the 2 meals for £11 range.
The vegetarian lasagne was reasonable but pricey for what it was. The hunter's chicken came with an ungenerous portion of chips and was billed as coming with salad or roast vegetables. As it was, there was no choice and it came with peas and an unadventurous salad which included a lot of raw onion. Onion rings were meant to come too and eventually turned up with another order, below. The same could be said of the salmon salad which was similar, again with lots of raw onion, though the salmon felt fresh and reasonably sized. The best of the lot was asparagus and poached eggs from the starter menu, which along with a portion of onion rings made a good main.
The pub itself is spacious, with a nice selection of books to browse and games to play. Outside is a great children's playground and lovely views. There's lots of parking and even a drinks vending machine for those who arrive when the pub is shut.
We are unlikely to go back, largely because Sheffield offers a lot of choice of pubs, but it was good to visit this one.
We stopped by because we were hungry, but we were served much better meals than we had expected. Delicious traditional English fare, as well as a few non-English menu items, excellent choice of UK beers, a great outdoor seating area and a marvelous view. We enjoyed the experience but were unable to purchase the amazing looking desserts because the kitchen closed before we could order them.
After a day of hiking at 28°C, I decided to reward myself with a swim in the lake, a meal and a cold shandy. The Three Merry Lads was the closest pub, so I decided to go for it, as didn't want to travel any further away. I did not pay attention to many details, as totally exhausted, but the service was impeccable. Once I asked if they could do vegan pizza for me, I had a straight yes as an answer, even if there was no vegan pizza on the menu. Pizza arrived within a few minutes and have to admit that ordering it, was one of the best ideas that day. The pizza was delicious, thin and crunchy. I was very surprised by how the cheese melted and how tasty it was. The lovely girls were checking on me from time to time asking if everything was fine or if I needed something else. They were lovely. I sat outside, as wanted to absorb even more fresh air and get dry after my dip in the lake. The view from the outside area was beautiful, straight onto some hills.
The car park was big enough to fit many cars. I did not use the facilities, so hard to say anything about the cleanness.
My daughter had her wedding reception here on the weekend and it was lovely. The landlord and lady couldn't of been more helpful, buffet food was lovely and plenty of it.
Great that the sun was shining and we managed to sit outside and inside too. All our requests were met. Thanks for making their day a good one.
Tasty food, great service. Beer garden looked great, although we sat inside, playgroup for kids too. Nice little pub for after a walk with hearty food!!
I nipped here for a family dinner recently having last visited over 10 years ago.. not much has changed but there are a good couple of Lagers on draught and the menu is simple but was tasty and more than adequate when it arrived. The sun was out but it was pretty windy so as much as the outdoor terrace looked inviting I quickly retreated inside! A decent family pub if you want to nip for something to eat and not spend much. Would visit again if it was part of an invitation from friends but probably wouldn’t be my first choice of S10 pubs.
Seemed quiet on a Saturday afternoon in February. Very friendly - they changed the TV channel for us. Dog was welcome, plenty of water bowls. Food was very good. Only a few veggie options, but I really appreciated a good home made bean burger, so much better than the pretend meat that many places offer these days. The chef was genuinely interested in whether we had enjoyed our meal, which is a good sign.
Well kept beer - I had a nice pint of Landlord.
Gorgeous for a family drink on a sunny day. Spacious garden with stunning views, and lots of picnic benches, a climbing frame and football goals for kids.
So a fourth pub/restaurant visited in this area of Sheffield, the Three Merry Lads.
Unfortunately it was a quiet Monday early evening but the food was good and tge service was okay with good knowledge about the place and the ability to stay there in your own camper van, very handy. They have a good range of liquid refreshments being in the small group of venues which includes the Norfolk Arms. The venue is very friendly to those that are walking dogs or have just spent the day getting boots muddy, another very handy thing.
The place is very nicely decorated for Xmas and hand two log fires blazing away, like the Norfolk, superb.
All said and done a visit here is definitely very worthwhile especially on a cold night in November.
Lovely pub and location. Great for kids when the weather is good as there is an outside play area.
Very nice food, lovely pub, really enjoyed our lunch, the only down side was the play area, as it wasn't really suitable for my little one as there isn't a baby swing and the climbing frame and slide was too big for him as well. More suited to older children which was a shame for my toddler! A good play area is the main attraction for a family with children, so would love to see it updated and go back again one day. Views really are beautiful though !
Food was amazing. Staff were really helpful and friendly
