Lovely pub! Seated swiftly with no prior reservation and drinks orders taken. Good choice for a sunday menu explained with recommendations from our server. Food arrived in decent time and it was delicious. Will eat here again and recommend to our friends.
Walk in dinner guests with some stringent medical dietary requirements in the party. Couldn't have been more pleased with the interaction with bar staff and chef to ensure they could accommodate our needs and wow! they delivered beyond our expectations with one of the best menu adaptations with very tasty fresh food to the table. Good beverage choices so had a fabulous evening - thank you. ...
We were staying for just 1 night. You upgraded our room which was a treat - on the front overlooking the high street. We ate dinner in your restaurant which was excellent - wonderful service. And breakfast the next morning was equally good. We were returning after previous visits and it's so rare when it doesn't disappoint. The atmosphere at The George is always just right for us - relaxed and good attention to details. Well done!
Arrived mid afternoon after a tour at the Cotswold Distillery. Small car park at rear with easy access to hotel. Room was immaculate, crisp sheets, plush carpet and gorgeous bathroom with roll top bath and huge rainfall shower. Very relaxing! Dinner was excellent and staff attentive and helpful.
Good choice at breakfast of continental and cooked, beautifully decorated throughout with interesting paintings and cosy areas to sit. Good value for money.
We look forward to visiting again, thanks to Simon and all the George team.
Make sure you book a taxi as limited service in the area.
Super Sunday lunch and a breakfast that keeps you full all day !
Flexible staff and room happened to be available early.
I liked the window seats and being able to watch the high street
I would have preferred a firmer pillow but that’s my own preference.
All staff were very friendly and relaxed and manager was part of the team and had a good overview of the hotel and restaurant areas helping out if he needed too seems to no problem to him. Would stay again when we are in the area.
Fabulous hotel, perfect for a visit to the Cotswolds Distillery. Lovely superior room, very spacious with a comfortable bed. The service was excellent, every member of staff was super polite and helpful. The breakfast choices were great and the food we ordered served very hot and tasted delicious. We had an evening meal, which was equally good. The only disappointment was arriving to a view of scaffolding from the window as the hotel was being renovated. Understandably this needs to be done but notification before our arrival would have been appreciated plus a reduction in price.
It was a vibrant and unforgettable night at the local pub, filled with laughter, music, and the electrifying presence of a truly talented singer. As the dimly lit room reverberated with the clinking of glasses and the buzz of animated conversations, the stage came alive with the enchanting melodies that flowed effortlessly from the singer's lips. Their voice, a mesmerizing combination of soulful depth and captivating range, effortlessly captivated the audience, commanding attention and evoking emotions in every corner of the room. Cheers and applause erupted after each song, as the singer's heartfelt performance resonated deeply within the hearts of everyone present. The atmosphere was electric, and the pub reverberated with a collective sense of joy and appreciation for this extraordinary artist, making it a night to be cherished forever.
A wonderful stay, with the most helpful and friendly staff all around. Superb restaurant. Very comfortable room, the only thing missing is air conditioning; on the upper floor it gets quite warm and one has to leave the window open and the blind drawn up, so early morning light coming in can’t be prevented. That said, a terrific value.
What an awesome place. Great staff (very friendly and knowledgeable), the food was delicious and I was surprised (plesently) at the price. I am certainly coming back here. Brilliant.
Stayed for 1 night, pleasant staff, good choice of drinks and crisps at the bar. The room was lovely, well stocked with good quality toiletries, clean throughout, very good shower, comfy bed - generally a bed nice place to stay
My wife & I enjoyed a short stay at the George Townhouse Shipstone stour the room was big & spacious & a good quality bed ,a good size bathroom with an overhead shower the breakfast was good. I thought that for the money biscuits could have been provided each day with the tea making facilities & the TV was small .also the bed wasn't made up when we returned later that day.but on saying these things I would return & hopefully the small changes would be made
This was a Father's Day luncheon for me and my daughter. I have used the restaurant facilities here before. Service was a tad slow in taking orders/delivering drinks and unfortunately, the roast chicken was somewhat dry and stuffing too. These are however minor flaws in an otherwise rather pleasant experience. Perhaps, the young waitress might wear her skirt a little bit longer.
