Best fish and chips I've ever eaten!
Who knew fish and chips could be this good.
Trust the high Google reviews as this was incredible. Seems exaggerated as it's 'just fish and chips' but the chips are perfection and the fish cooked just right with crispy but light batter. Generous portion too. It's not cheap but absolutely worth the money.
They offer skate too which is unusual but very, very good.
I have eaten fish and chips my whole life all over the country and this for me is the best. Couldn't recommend highly enough!.
What a lovely fish and chips shop.
The chips were fat chips, crunchy yet fluffy on the inside, The fish was huge, tasted delicious, and was cooked really well. Moist and flaky. Very large portions.
Sorry to say the fish was a bit oily. I think the oil needed changing. The staff were pleasant and lovely. One member of staff had very tiny shorts that were showing her bottom cheeks. I don't really think that's proper attire. when you're serving food.
Other than that note , it's a lovely restaurant. Staff are fantastic. Food it tastes nice and I would visit again.
It's been a good long time since I've tasted such delicious fish n chips.
The chips were proper fat chips, crunchy yet fluffy on the inside and not too oily. The fish was huge, tasted delicious and was cooked really really well. Moist and flaky.
Tip. The large portions is enough to share if you're not too hungry.
Also tried the calamari which was really well cooked.
Just 10/10 delicious.
However, one thing that stands out is that the manager and the wait staff go out of their way to accommodate. They were just fantastic. Getting tables together in the small ambient restaurant, and keeping our chaotic orders coming to the tables without missing a beat. Hats off to you guys for well oiled operation.
Parking is the usual seaside scrum. Get there early or find a spot at a local car park. Ringo is the main pay app here.
It was also the only restaurant along the beach that was consistently packed out.
10/10 on all fronts from me. Really enjoyed our lunch and hope to visit again soon!
Very accommodating restaurant. We have four people in our group with two elderly and given that we only ordered two dishes, the waiters and owner are very welcoming and allowed us to occupy a table for 4 while the restaurant is busy. Food is great, we had the slate and cod and both the fish and fries are nicely cooked!
We came to Fish & Wish after being recommended by a friend. This place serves halal food, and the fish is fried separately to meat products. The great thing is they have a range of salads, in case you wish to eat lightly. The location and food is great. However, the service could have been better. The youngest of the three waitresses who ended her work early on 10.08.23 literally threw the menus on our tables. A simple question, asking what milkshakes flavours they serve, had her rolling her eyes (the flavours were not mentioned on the menu). The other two waitresses made up for her lack of mannerism with their politeness, so our overall experience was not ruined. If staff training can be addressed, it’s definitely 5 stars!
The fish & chips was great. However i wouldn't expect to see tartare sauce as sachets in a plastic cup and ketchup in a plastic bottle where i am paying £14.50 per plate. Also i would expect to have garkin and picked onion complementary with the meal. But the food was freshly cooked and tasty. The staff are very welcoming. Love the little flower jar on the table. Overall the price is a little high compare to service.
Absolutely outstanding! After being refused service by one establishment, ( because our child has allergies ) we found ourselves in Fish & Wish.
Here, they were courteous, kind and confident in what food they could serve our son. He opted for kids fish and chips which was cooked in a special gluten free batter (which was also egg, milk and soya free) in a separate fryer, it was delicious and he ate the whole fish, something unheard of! It was light, crispy and just the right size for a smaller appetite. His chips were amazing fat and crispy, fluffy in the middle.
My husband and I ordered jacket potatoes and salad, which was also fresh and delicious. We would definitely recommend this place.
Best Fish and Chips in Southend on Sea! I had the best Skate and Chips and it came with fresh Salad and dressing - My husband had a Large Cod and chips (Gluten Free) and it is nice to find a place somewhere where you can eat without contamination - Great customer Service - Delicious food - Good Value - Will deffinitely be back and 100% recommend this place

We all had a nice time here - great service, and staff were really friendly. Just a stones throw from Adventure Island, the Pier & Sea. Food arrived fast, and we came away happy - would recommend
